Finishing UFO and/or Choosing Project (LONG) by Pat in Virginia
In my HD thread, someone (She maybe) asked about how my guild's UFO challenge works. In the Stuck thread, several posters ask about how to choose a project and move on. I think a description of the UFO challenge will answer that issue. Here goes. The Organizers (L&N) set the 'rules' as follows....

machine wish list by Betty Maxey
I have been looking to get a new machine, and it looks as though what I'd like does not exist. Looking at Bernina, Viking, and Pfaff, currently. I like the large 9 inch work area of the mega quilter and grandquilter, but do not want to get one of those big stands. I did try one out at the...

What a Delight by Butterflywings
Just had the bestest meet-up this AM with an RCTQ'er that you'all know as Pati. Did a bit of Drag and Brag and then off to lunch and then to HER quilt shop. I was sooooooooo good and really restrained myself and only picked up 3 Poiples .....why good? Cause they were ON SALE and I didn't go...

OT if chocolate is really OT by Cats
OK all you US-based chocolate fanatics. According to this site - http://www.sfu.ca/geog351fall03/groups-webpages/gp8/consum/consum.html even Australia rates higher than the States! That is not necessarily something for us to be proud of, but clearly some of you are slacking off on the chocky...

OT ho ho ho by Polly Esther
Knowing full well that some of you don't begin Christmas shopping until Dec 24th, I thought you might like to see a great find. There are always some teens on our gift list who like $s the best. They might prefer their very own oil refinery or McDonald's branch since their gas tanks and...

Mouse Invasion! (not OT -- fabric storage compromised) by Sunny[_2_]
We've been invaded by mice! In the past a mouse or two would get in and my beloved little Angus would put short shrift to the beastie. DH never put much thought into it. Now with Angus gone a year, the mice have moved in. And it seems one or more are in my sewing room. Of course, my stash takes up...

Finished project plus new (?) technique by Leslie& The Furbabies in MO.
I purchased some wooden boxes- I think of them as Treasure Boxes- at Hobby Lobby. (They run $20-30 but I've managed to catch them at half price sales in early December and stock up!) The boxes have an area with glass for a 4X6 in. photo. And, of course, a 4X6 quilted postcard fits in there! ...

question about machine price by Marissa Vignali
this guy in my lab comes to me the other day and tells me his girlfriend wants a sewing machine for Xmas to do some home decor stuff, and I quickly geared him away from new Singers and towards used Vikings/Berninas/Pfaffs. So he did some research locally and sent me this link today to see if I...

HS Class by LN \(remove NOSPAM\)
My dd is choosing classes for HS. She enters 9th grade next year (who knows how THAT happened. She's only 3!). She asked me to help her look at the different classes with her. They offer quilting as a class!!!!! She wasn't interested tho. I guess she feels she can get that at home. But they...

keeping the roll call by Susan Laity Price
I have not found the time to right my own bio response but have enjoyed reading everyone else's. I plan to keep all the responses in a folder with the directory. Someone please remind me who started this thread. I think they deserve a reward (soft of course). Susan

Looking for a solid Sandra Dee pink cotton by ginmaru
After three weeks of the entire family (except the cats) getting sick, I am now trying to fix my hairdresser's quilt and I need help. I am looking for a solid pink in a color best described as Sandra Dee Pink, Pepto Bismol Pink, Puerto Rican Pink (from a Bolivian friend of mine), or just Bubble...

OT - UK "Secret Santa" by Johanna Gibson
Hello UK folks on the list, I see a lot of "Secret Santa" activity on my quilting newsgroups, and feel a bit left out. I don't want to spend loads on buying tons of quilting trinkets and tools, and then fork out for postage to these US-based swaps this year, so... I propose a UK Secret Santa,...

Result of an internal stash raid :-) by Heidi from Germany
Hi, several weeks ago DD asked: may I sew something ? I hadn't even finished the answer 'Yes, you may' when she already began to select some of my best pinks. She sewed some things before, but this is the first time she cut the squares by herself. When the squares were sewn together, I convinced...

24 days/16 days..begging from yesterday by CNYstitcher
how blatant does one have to be in a beg?? How subtle is too subtle??? I guess I was too subtle and MissMop missed it...does that mean I'm no longer in training, or do I need more classes?? Larisa, plugging away on the last presents, only one quilting related - the new tree skirt will,...

Guys, I'm sorry...i replied to a cross posted message without realizing it, and without editing the groups it was going to. This resulted in a nasty reply to my post, and i didn't intend for that to happen. Please forgive me. I'll be much more careful in the future. Thanks for...

Suggestions Needed by C. Mathews
I need suggestions from the group. Here is my dilemma. I have fallen heir to some calico prints and want to make a scrappy quilt. Keep in mind this is the first quilt of this type I have ever attempted...and the only the second quilt made. Does anyone have a favorite old/classic way to use up these...
