Mostly Mondrian Quilt Picture by
John
Here is the picture of the Mostly Mondrian Quilt. It should be laid
out with the large blue square on the bottom right, but it is late and
I will change it tomorrow. 66"tall x68"wide. Interestingy enough, the
markings came out without any washing. Just the handling and work of
making the sandwitch...

Sewing Machine Repair School by
Sunny[_2_]
Where do you go to learn to be a sewing machine repair person? I have
always loved poking around in devices and I realized messing with my
machine, I would love to be able to repair machines. I absolutely love
cleaning up the insides of grubby devices. I hate to mop the floor,
but I keep the...

nedd help - "masculine" quilting patterns by
offkilterquilter
OK, a little backhistory: Friend from church saw the signature quilts i
made for a family that moved away and decided she wanted a quilted
wallhanging of her company's logo to give to her boss as a CHristmas
gift. NOt a problem, she even gave me a paper mock-up of how she wanted
it (size and...

Ack -- machine woes redux by
Sunny[_2_]
The black crud was a red herring. The machine hummed along for almost
20 minutes after I pulled that gunk out of the guts of my machine.
Then WHUMP it happened again. This time it yanked the bobbin so hard
it is totally wedged. This happened before. The repair that time cost
a couple hundred bucks...

which collection and where to buy? by
Anne Rogers[_3_]
I'm doing the Northcott Flower of the Month Club, our store is actually
a few months out of synch, so we'll being doing January to April of 2007
in 2008. Along with each month's fabrics, there has been a fairly
consistent set of background fabrics, mostly single colour floral, with
the change...

the sewing machine shortlist by
Anne Rogers[_3_]
is getting longer!
I like the Husqvarna Viking Sapphire when I tried it at the weekend, I
need to look at the exact specs again, but I think I'd be happy with the
bottom model. Working through what's included and what's not, it looks
like there will be more to add on and bump the price up...

computer troubles. by
John
Well I got up this morning and was going into the sewing room and
thought I would check my email and look at this group. I was excited
because I started a new quilt last night and was raring to get on it.
I fired up the mac and nothing happened. I waited until 9:am and
called Apple tech support and...

OT and for the cat's staff by
Polly Esther[_2_]
Do you know that poinsettias and mistletoe are both poisonous to your QI?
Do be careful when decorating with either of these. I would suggest putting
them well out of reach if we only knew where that was. It seems to me that
there are several new kittens in our group and I wanted to be sure...

WOOT! Slub f ound! by
Sunny[_2_]
I have healed my machine. Healed, I say. I opened the end and started
looking around, as far as I c ould see (which isn't really very far)
and I noticed a tiny sort of fuzz hair. Just one. It was way back in
the guts of the machine (I have no idea what to call the parts). I got
my trusty pipe...

Leslie, Thank you so much for the idea of gluing the velcro. I have no
idea why I didn't think of that. I actually had some glue in my cupboard!
All's well now.

Sewing Machine Woes by
Sunny[_2_]
Hi, I'm almost back to almost normal and I've been trying to finish a
little table topper I've been working on. Problem is my SM is not
cooperating. It started fine -- I'm free motion quilting cherries and
leaves on the squares --- and then it did that dreaded jump, break the
thread, birdsnest...

happy dances and hugs to all who need them -- I hope you understand. :)

At risk of boring some of you to tears, here's the final report on
disappearing eyebrows. I didn't want to look like Tammy Faye, am a chicken
about tattoos - for 2 reasons (1) I'm a coward and (2) what if they gave me
that 'surprised' look some folks wear that looks like they just swallowed a...
