Pressing of Cotton/ Spandex Blends by
Hi, I have just received new uniform shirts that I must keep pressed. They are 98% cotton and 2% spandex. I have heard that you shouldn't use starch on this fabric. Would sizing be ok? The care label says to use a warm iron if needed- but that isn't getting the wrinkles out. Any suggestions...

Rubber Cement on Fabric? by RLK
I crafted a new shade for my lamp. Not having any fabric "glue", I used rubber cement. It is a small shade and appears to have bonded the lightweight cotton fabric (fused with interface) quite well to the template. But will this eventually fall off? If I were to get fabric glue, what brand do I...

Most popular sewing-embroidery machines by Terry
We are still on the search for a good machine that does both sewing and some embroidery. Pfaff, Brother, Janome, etc are on the list being considered. We are interested in a good machine, a mainstream machine that a lot of sewing folks own, a machine that is well supported by the company, a machine...

Elastic insert on jeans by SML
Has anyone slit down a jean's waistband and inserted an elastic panel to enlarge the waist? It ends up as a v-shaped insert and makes the waist more comfortable. I've seen the finished product but don't know how to make it look good.

JoAnn's Cozy Flannel by duh who
So, it looks like Joann's Cozy Flannel is actually some rugged stuff. I couldn't pull apart threads like I can on most other flannels. Anyone else have any experience with finished garments from this stuff? I'm thinking about doing a shirt out of their Rust/Copper color.

ruching by Glitterati
Is it very difficult to do? Is there a specific method of gathering the fabric? Anyone know of a book or site? I absolutely LOVE this top. Granted, this made of a knit material, but I can see it working with a plain cotton t shirt as well. (Do other experienced eyes also see it working? =)) I...
