Firing logs - what do you include? any files for standards? by
Bubbles
Following on the thread about soaking, I was thinking that each kiln is an
individual, and thus, logging what your own kiln does is essential. BUT!
What information do YOU log? Do you have a kiln log - is it on computer
file, so you can share it with us that are inquisitive and searching?
I have a...

Enamels on stoneware by
J M
Hi all smee posting again,
I have considered about personalising dog/cat bowls; and rather make clients
wait for me to make a bowl from scratch - I thought of glazing a blank and
using enamels to personalise it.
So, I bought some powder on-glaze enamels for refire to 750C and, using the
medium...

Salt experiment by
J M
Having an electric kiln I don't want to kill it by salt glazing - so I've
never tried it. However, this may sound silly, but I have heard of rice,
sawdust and other items being put into the clay - and was wondering what
effect you would get in the glaze by mixing salt into the clay...

A pugged clay problem by
JM
Hi all,
Yesterday I machine pugged some re-claimed clay (as usual), but noticed that
the clay's properties werent smooth. The clay could be 'torn' and was
ragged when done so.
When I pug my clay - I put it through the machine several times to make sure
its the same consistency...

Propane gas burners by
[email protected]
I have plans to build my own small raku kiln. I already own a
90,000BTU weed burner that I could use, but it sounds like a jet
engine, neighbours are used to it as I use it for weed burning and to
start my charcoal when BBQing, but do not want to bother them with the
jet engine like sound for the...

paper-clay? by
Bubbles
Hi!
I got a recipe and ingredients to make paper clay from my teacher, but it
doesn't work - it always loosens after firing! If it is just thin places,
can I "just" add some clay, dry and refire to bisque?
What makes the paper-clay adhere properly to the bisqued clay?
Any smart recipes without a...
