I have used cuttlefish for casting silver items for many a year
however my supply of cuttlebones has dried up. Can anyone suggest a

The difference between Tibetan silver vs. Sterling silver ? by
bk51atwork
Hi!
I was hoping someone could tell me the difference (if there is one)
between sterling silver & Tibetan silver.
Also,is there a difference in the purity, quality rating and is it
identifiable by a hallmark?
I'm interested in how it effects the quality & value of jewelry.

Really Big chunks of agate by
Seigfried
My dad was a rockhound all his life. There are now some REALLY BIG
chunks of nice solid agate in his yard that I don't know what to do
with. (The biggest just barely fit into the bed of a truck and
compressed the springs right to the axle.) And there are a number of
other pieces too.
Does anyone...

Scrap Silver, Casting sheet by
Antonio
Hello,
Antonio here. I have a lot of scrap silver. I would like to melt it
and cast it into sheet for further use. I have a small crucible and
stirring rod. Silver is expensive now, it was $4.50 an oz. when I
began silversmithing in 2001 LOL. So my question is when I melt (cast)
my silver scrap,...

Cash and Treasure show by
Delvia Logan
Has anyone seen the Cash and Treasures show on the Travel Channel. The host
is too perky for me but the sites looks really cool for the different stones.
I would love to talk to other people who have seen the show. My favorite is
the black opals in Nevada.
The show concentrates too much on...

Peter W.. Rowe,
Hi all,
I'm heading off to the annual Society of North American Goldsmiths annual

travel, you may expect somewhat sporadic newsgroup moderation services once I'm
there, until I figure out the needed hoops to jump...

I just picked up some silver solder paste..... by
Jman
and I noticed something very peculiar about this stuff. It looks and
smells EXACTLY like 'high end' silver thermal paste for CPU's !! Has
anyone else noticed this ?
I haven't yet used the stuff to 'actually solder' yet but I'm looking
forward to trying it out. Does anyone have a preference to...

Need professional opinion (or at least somewhat informed) by
David G
I'm thinking of buy this ring from this online jeweler (with ruby) for $699.
I've checked some reviews on the folks, seem on the level--of course
a couple of disgruntled customers (mainly stones falling out) but I
guess that's expected. Most customers seem pleased.
What do you think of the ring...

Gage sizes of silver and copper wire by
gloflyer
If a wire is a certain gage is that size constant across different
types of metal?
I used my disc cutter with 22 gage sheet copper and 18 gage copper
wire to make discs and jump rings until I had a design that I liked
for a necklace.
I then attempted to make the same design with Argentium...
