a new sewer-help with curtain length shortening by
aces1
I bought already made curtains. I want to shorten them. Any quick
suggestions so that it doesn't look tacky when I finish.
They are tab curtains. They fit the dinning room and the kitchen window is
just 3 feet away but a smaller window length.
Thanks, Chris in MI

De-lurking to ask for a bit of advice. by
Jolynne
Hi all! I usually just read this group for info, but I have a question
this time.
Is %600.00 for a rarely used Husqvarna Viking Huskylock 1001L Serger a
reasonable price? I've been researching sergers with the intent to buy
and I've come across this used one. I know I like Viking machines, so
that...

to duplicate it and being unsure what I had done wrong, I finally
trashed it.

curtain headings by
Patty
I am sewing a tapered valance with a heading. My rod pocket will be
for a 2 1/4" flat rod. My question is how much of a heading do I
make? I have checked three book sources and all it tells me is "The
width of the heading is the distance from the top of the finished
curtain to the top stitching...

elasitc (spandex) in socks too tight by

Many of the men's socks I buy have such tight elastic that it causes
serious damage to my legs. I presume these are no longer made with
old fashioned elastic but with spandex as all the new things are. Does
anyone know a way to permanently stretch the ribbed part with the
spandex so that it will...

Help!! Fitted sheets by
Stefani276
I think I remember reading in the Kwik-Sew book about sewing for babies the way
to measure for crib sheets was this: measure the top width and length of the
crib mattress. Measure the depth, add 5-6 inches. Add this to the width and
depth, and this is the minimum your raw fabric should measure. I...
