pigment for porcelain
Any suggestions on a pigment to give an off-white or slightly brownish tint
to a porcelain (about 1200 degf) that uses titanium oxide for white? A
source for small quantities would be helpful too.

Horse hair by
J.R.Lawson
I was just in North Carolina and came across some "horse hair" pots. They
were in white, blue and green with black veins. My question is, how were
these done and what does horse hair have to do with it?

stupid newbie question on kiln firing by
Beowulf
ok i am just a newbie, so this will sound stupid-- what exactly is the
purpose of "bisque" firing, what is it, is it really needed or can a piece
simply be maybe dried out for a month? I think it is a sort of
low-temp prefiring to get all the water of the clay?

manual wheels? by
Hana Rednib
What is your opinion on using foot-powered wheels? I learned on one and
have been using an electric wheel since moving to my new studio. I kind of
miss the manual one, there was a real tempo you could get into. What do you
think?

Kiln God? by
Bubbles/Marianne
Hey everyone :-)
I want to make myself a kiln god. From the very limited information my
searches came up with, I read that the Japanese believe you must sacrifice
something to the kiln god in each firing. My idea is then to purposely make
a big air pocket in a little sculpture, and then fire it...
