Ott lite deals by SlinkyToy
One of my Ottlite bulbs gave it up over the weekend. Local prices are outrageous -- Joann wants $27 for the replacement I need, and the Sylvania bulbs with the same form-factor plug just don't cut it as they are QUITE yellow. Joann.com is offering a 40% online order only discount on ONE item, but...

Designing Aran Sweaters by Allaya Diep
Hi Group! Can anybody recommend some good books of stitch libraries or anything relevant if I wanted to design my own Aran sweater? I went to Amazon and came up with a couple: "220 Aran Stitches and Patterns - Volume 5 (Harmony Guides)"; and "Patterns for Guernseys, Jerseys, and Arans;...

No shriek this time, just a heavy sigh by spampot
....as I get halfway through the cast-on, thinking wow, I really am casting on loosely, good for me...until I run out of yarn. At this point I wish I'd taken good ol' Slinky's advice & rewound the friggin ball of yarn so I could tie the two ends together. Oh well.

Dyeing experiments by Sue Carlson Dunn
Well, after all that useful information from Sonya, Helen and Els (many thanks!), I just had to have a dabble... I found some black food colouring liquid at the back of a cupboard and sloshed some into a bowl with some warm water. Then I soaked about 100 yards of the yellow cashmere in some warm...

rug doilies by Anna MCM
Sue Carlson Dunn wrote: Anna Maria, try looking at www.angelfire.com/folk/celtwich . The doilies and other projects there are all for thread, but I've done a few of them in fine yarn to make throws and cushion covers, so I should think that if you used thicker yarn and a larger hook you...

Baby Hat and Spontaneous Combustion by Allaya Diep
I've never heard of that before! That's so interesting. One I HAVE heard (read it online somewhere) is that if you deny a pregnant woman her wish, you get a stye in your eye. This has already happened twice to my husband, who has never had or SEEN a stye before in his life, and now he's running...

S.E.X. Caught on Film! by Allaya Diep
Last month, my friends, Caryn, Crystal, and I went to the Yarn Lady bag sale for Caryn's birthday. I'm not sure if any of you have ever been to this sale (people tell me that customers fly in from all over), but it was definitely an experience! Imagine large troughs filled to the top with bagged...

Lacy work -- weaving in ends? by Nancy Pannebaker
Hi Jake, Boy can I relate! I recently finished an afghan that had over 600 ends to weave in by the time I was finished (90 squares, multiple color changes) and as in your case the design was fairly open so that I couldn't just work over my ends as I stitched. What I did was to thread a yarn needle...

Marilyn, Yippee, skipee. In Sheep's Clothing had the leaflet (only one!). They e-mailed me a response, I called them, they took my "plastic money" over the phone & shipped it out. Got it two days later. I am so thrilled. I've already started back on the afghan I was in the middle of when I...
