attaching velcro to canvas by
gdh
I'm new at this posting, and not sure this is the right place to post. I am
trying to attach velcro to the canvas top on my boat. When we sleep in the
boat we always end up using clamp and clothes pins to attach a fabric over
the plastic windows for privacy. My idea is to use something like a...

WTB: Looking for Used Heavy Duty Leather Sewing Machine by
hbeil(nospam)
I'm looking for a used heavy duty leather machine. I do some leather
work and have been hand sewing all of my holsters and gun belts. I'm
looking for a good machine that will sew over 1/2 inch. I don't want
anything made in China.... If any one has a machine in good working
order, or knows of a...

Sewing machine question by
Cindy Schmidt
Hi, my name is Cindy and I'm new to the group. Hope someone can answer a
question for me.
I have a business that I run out of my home and I sew a pretty thick type
fabric. I've never had any problems in the past in sewing this type of
fabric.
I currently have 3 commercial machines. Two of them...

efficacy of pants pressers? by
[email protected]
I always press my pants because they're pure cotton. And because they
were properly tailored to measure, so pressing them makes them last
longer, too.
I'm intruiged by the pants-presser appliances I've seen (for example,
at Hammacher Schlemmer).
Do these things really work well?

Clothing dying by
[email protected]
Hi everyone!
I have a pair of black pants that I LOVE, and they have started to fade
and look horrible. They are 98% cotton, 2% spandex. I have heard that
it should be fairly easy to dye them back to a nice dark black, but I'm
not very crafty or anything, so I was hoping to get some advice...

Help - need needle plate for Brother VX-2013 by
She who would like to be obeyed once every Preston
Help! I need a replacement needle plate for my Brother VX-2013.
Apparently, at no more than 13 years old, the machine is "obsolete",
which means that my only chance of finding a spare is if a dealer/
repair man has one kicking about somewhere in a forgotten box of bits.
Brother UK are unable/...

chemotherapy hats: list of links by
Kay Lancaster
CHEMO HATS, TURBANS, SCARVES, etc.
Updated 3 May 2005; a collection of links for comfort caps, chemotherapy
hats, and miscellaneous ideas, culled from web searches and posts to
various sewing email lists. In order to cut the bulk a bit, I've
trimmed attributions, but please know that this is...

Buttonhole twist by

Can someone explain what button hole twist is? I want to learn how to
hand
work button holes and gather this is the stuff but would like a little
background on it.
I see it for sale everywhere in a zillion colors but little is said
about
the weight of the thread. Is all twist equal or some...

Anyone up for a little Singer troubleshooting help? by
David Nebenzahl
My (previously) trusty Singer no longer sews, and I can't figure out why.
It's a "No. 15", at least according to Singer's serial # scheme from their
website. (Except that the manual I downloaded shows a treadle machine while
mine has that newfangled e-lectric motor; the kind with gears instead of...

Dress Pattern Search.... by
Sher
I'm in despeate need to find a pattern for this dress. I've kept the
picture for years, hoping that I would find a similar one, or find
someone talented enough to make it without a pattern. I don't know who
the designer for this one was. I know it was in a Saks wedding
brochure I got a while...

Husqvarna software by

Does anyone here use Husqvarna software? I have created a design with a
cats head, and with wording beneath it , from the built in fonts. I now
find the density of the words is too great, & i want to have it looser,
but I can't work out how to do the words but not the cats head. I have
been to...

What type of fabric clamp is this? by
jw
Does any one know what a clamp or clip that has this outline is called.
It is used to hold the components of a quilt down to a table for pinning.
It slides over the table's edge and hold the fabric in place.

questions about elastic by
S
I'm confused and am hoping some kind soul will be able to help me.
When I go to look at elastic, I find several different types of
elastic. There's non-roll, which does seem reasonably
self-explanitory, if it works. But what about braided and knitted and
plain old flat elastic. Where should the...

Singer Nostalgic 30 by
John Taylor
Has anybody seen, in person, one of the Singer Nostalgic 30
"Reproduction" hand crank straight stich machines that are available
from some Singer vendors. I know that they are not as nice as the
original ones but are they mechanically useful and are the needles and
parts reddily available. The...
