annealing brass by

Could someone help me out, please. I'm trying to anneal brass but it's
turning copper color in the pickle. I put a piece of silver wire in to see
if the pickle is bad and plating it with copper. No changes to the silver
yet.
Most of what I've read about annealing just says to heat until it is...

Anodize silver guitar strings? by

I want to dye some paterns onto a set of guitar strings. Clearly the
strings will be vibrating and moved a lot so I can not paint on them.
What would be the best way to apply colors to them? A metal dye,
anodizing, etc...
I can pickup strings coded in brass, silver or platenum but I dont
know...
