Too funny! by
Joan Erickson
Had to share this with people "in the know"!
On Craig's list there was a post for embroidery thread for sale (this
was amazing just for the fact DH showed it to me, when he's always
saying I don't need more stitching stuff!). Anyway, it was a good deal:
$20 for 120 skeins of floss (some...

old tablecloth by
[email protected]
An elderly woman in our building put a tablecloth on display one
evening last week prior to it being picked up by the museum. She
thought it was needlepoint but actually it was 9 large squares of
cross stitch flower bouquets, crocheted together to make the cloth.
The work was lovely, the back...

Grub Stitch Rose by
Dianne Lewandowski
From an EGA Fiber Artist: grub stitch rose. Over the years, grub
stitch has become known as whipped straight stitch. It's the same
thing, only I think it was known as grub stitch in Australia and
Americans couldn't embrace that name. It is on page 105 in A-Z of
Ribbon Embroidery by...

merezhka embroidery update by
Yvette
Hi everyone,
Today I did the second and final part of the workshop at my local
guild in Merezhka embroidery. We learnt how to do the "bullion wrap"
style corner, and how to turn the corner.
I loved the course and am looking forward to finishing my piece and
putting it in our guild's exhibition...

Wooden boxes at Hallmark store by
Susan Hartman/Dirty Linen
Last night I went into the local Hallmark store and saw a new
promotion...Hallmark has lovely wooden boxes with velvet lining for
$9.95 with the purchase of three cards. The top of the box has a space
with access to place an insert - and would be a lovely box with a piece
of needlework...

40-ct. silk gauze by
Cathy
Hi, I'm usually a lurker, but I had a question. There was a project in
the February issue of the Cross Stitcher that called for a 3" square of
40-count silk gauze. I don't know where I can get the gauze though.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Another horror story ! by
Pat P
Listening to our lovely local radio last night, the presenter, who was
horrified herself and said she could hardly bear to read it - said that the
world supply of cocoa beans was currently endangered by a couple of fungal
infections!

OTT LIGHT PROBLEM by
Lenora C
Ok all you Ott light owners out there. Have you ever had a problem with
your ott light turning off all by itself but then when you flip the
switch it turns right back on? NO I do not have any ghosts. I was
wondering if this was a problem with getting too hot or the bulb going out.

Off Topic - Just when I thought I'd seen everything by
Cheryl Isaak
There was a gentleman in full Scottish attire in Barnes and Noble in Nashua
NH
Kilt, knee socks with the garter, an Aran type sweater and sporran. Didn't
look for a dirk, but would be a weapon and severely frowned on.

Skilled XS vs. Not-So-Skilled XS by
Tia Mary
Hi Guys,
So, I posted in another thread that -- IMNSHO -- the **mechanics**
of stitching plain, unadorned XS (no special fibers, no beads, no fancy
stuff) doesn't really take a lot of skill. I'm talking the whole "lower
left to upper right and then lower right to upper left" part of XS. ...

lining material for a bell pull by
[email protected]
I'm hoping someone can help me with this one.
I stitched a grape pattern from Just Cross stitch - the one in the
August, 2001 issue - that I want to make into a bell pull. I printed
Tia Mary's instructions on making a bell pull. Here's my question: I
need to line this sucker with a material that...

I use a strip of Sellotape ("Scotch|" tape). Applied lightly it takes off
all those "fluffy bits"from front and back and does no damage.
