OT - my poor dog by
Jan Lennie
I have a seven month old black Labrador who we've just found out has no
back hip joints ?!!!!
He has the 'ball' at the top of his legs but no 'socket' . The vet said
(rather worryingly with a glint in her eye) I've never seen that before - so
he's been referred to a specialist - he isn't...

Maureen Miller
Please go take a look at this page:
http://www.vintagetextile.com/victorian.htm
Most of the dresses have oodles of hand embroidery on them. What
beautiful work. There's a wedding dress there that I'd even consider
getting married again just to wear....IF I thought I could ever fit into
something...

Floss scraps for birds? Don't do it ... by
Tess
I recall reading many years ago on rctn about leaving floss scraps out for birds. Always intended to, but, you know, intentions ...
Today I read this: http://www.goodknitkisses.com/psa-dangerous-yarn-scraps-for-birds/
Perhaps it's been discussed over the years, but I found this quite helpful. ...

Victorian/Needlework terms? by
Jeanine3
A friend lent me her latest book find which is called "Treasures in
Needlework" by Mrs. Warren and Mrs. Pullman first published in 1870
Going through it, I'm totally amazed at all the household items on which
they suggest you embroider!! However, there are a few terms with which I
am not familiar...

OFF TOPIC - oh the trauma of it all ;) by
Cheryl Isaak
Well, we have found the cause of DS's mild headaches - his recent growth
spurts have resulted in him becoming mildly nearsighted. Ah the angst of it
all - he is almost 13 after all.
So in a week's time, he will have really "kewl" glasses - poly carb lenses
and the ultra flexible wire frames that...

Stitchers' World Back Issues by
Suzanne
I bought the May 2004 issue of Stitchers' World, and it has the next to
the last panel in a series they ran for making a Victorian garden cross
stitch or needlepoint rug. Even though I have no idea when I'll be
able to get to it, it really caught my eye and I'd love to do it in
needlepoint. The...

Where do you stitch? by
lewmew
I just got an email from Herschnerrs that shows a lady sitting at a
table stitching. It looks tiresome to me.
Now, I don't know about you guys, but most of the time, I stitch on
the couch. Where do you stitch? In a hardbacked straight chair or
someplace comfy?

My Puff is a little Maltese. He has thrown up before but not like this.
This time he's really sick, and wasn't able to control either end for a few
days. He does seem a little better now so hopefully this will go away just
the way it came and he'll go back to having the occasional upset...
