Anyone building their own kilns? by
Byrd
I am trying to get started doing some glass and pottery crafting. I am
having to do it on my own and with the aid of some books. I live 150 mi
from the nearest school with any similar art programs and probably couldn't
afford the tuition if it was next store, we're barely affording keeping the...

Cutting a demi john by
Anth
Hi
I have a glass Demi-John, I need to cut the bottom off to make a bell jar
piece of equipment for experiments.
Some techniques scour the glass and then use a heated wire to shatter
across the score.
I have seen other methods such as filling the bottle with oil and inserting
a hot piece of metal,...

Cleaning Glass by
Cheryl
After
washing it try hard to only touch the edges (now you'll see why we grind
them) and you should be just fine.
Hey -
cheap old cotton gloves (worn while drying and handling after cleaning) will
solve the entire problem... G

Why this NG has sucked so bad.... by
Jman
Yep,
I said it.... As a matter of fact, it had to be said. Most of the
people on this newgroup seem not willing to participate because of a
handful of people's (I'm not excluding myself here either folks...)
willingness to be as pompous and self rightous as possible. The
traffic that this NG...

stolen by anyone anywhere and turned into a commercial product with no
gain for yourself. The owner of the site which is registered by .tv

Crafters Needed by
Kevin Sawyer, General Manager
We are hand-picking American crafters (USA only please) who are willing and
able to produce and ship their quality crafts in the USA. We are *not*
looking for mass-production factories that crank out useless trinkets and
widgets. If so, we'd just import from China and Taiwan. Instead we...

Stained Glass Flowers and Small, Padded Vises by
Christina
Hi, All!
I'm looking for information on anyone, anywhere, who may be creating
three dimensional flowers from stained glass... I've seen ones that
were fused, or blown, or spun, but none made from good ole soldered
glass... Has anyone seen something like that? (I'm looking for gift
ideas).
Also,...

My Stupid Pot Melt Fire by
Glassman
How smart can I be? I had this one of 3 of my kilns, sitting on a wooden
dolly, so I could wheel it around when I needed to. The bottom has always
been perfectly cool to the touch, but this kiln is 3 stacked octagon rings
of firebrick. I had a little free time so I tried a stupid pot melt....

Cutting Zinc Channel by
Jenny Howard
Hi,
How do you cut the channels for frames? Do you use a hand saw or a
table saw? I've used a hand saw, but am not thrilled! It's hard, and
sometimes deforms the channel, and is difficult to be accurate. Also
time consuming. I like making mitered corners because they look so
much nicer. Can you...
