Thank you all by
Carolyn McCarty
Thank you all for being so kind when many problems more important and more
urgent are on our minds. My mum was also grateful for your sympathy and
support. Amongst the rest of the comedy of errors, it looks like I will be
responsible for funeral arrangements--me, who hates funerals and death,...

Specific Book Feedback? by
dogmom
To help my DSS get a free ("free") iPod (I don't even know what that is) I
joined a book club. Now to get out of it I need to buy 2 more books. I'm
considering 40 Fabulous Quick-Cut Quilts by E. Sloppy (I trust her last name
is no reflection on her instructions...) or Patchwork Showcase by...

Finished book case quilt by
Trixie
This quilt is one I asked the group for advice on how to quilt it. I ended
up doing stitch in the ditch around the signature blocks, and then did a
meander around the rest. I'm sure my mom is going to be thrilled when she
sees it!

OT Directwav by
[email protected]
We have two options where we live -- 56K modem or satellite. We've
been using Direcway as our ISP for a little over a year now and have
found the following drawbacks:
* The service slows down noticeably during peak usage times (our
contract did mention that fact).
* Downloading large files (e.g.,...

Way OT-my missing son by
Marlys in Indiana
Just passing on several news articles that are in the papers
out in the area. Heard a few more things, but nothing concrete.
Both articles are similar if not identical since the same company
owns both papers. One is from Victorville and the other one is
from Barstow. The search and rescue...

old embroidered linens quilt? by
Lobo
I recently acquired a bagful of old embroidered linens ... dresser scarves,
pillowcases, table runners, etc. ... and some doilies too. Most of them
have a stain somewhere on them. Also, I'm not into ironing pillowcases and
table runners, etc., so I'm thinking of making a quilt out of them. ...

A lovely Quilty Day by
Bronnie
Today I attended a quilt workshop held by our guild. It was learning a
method for the Double Wedding Ring. Now, I had not planned to do this
course as I recently made a DWR using the John Flynn method teaching
myself from his book. However, at the last guild meeting we were told 3
girls had to...

Anoher celtic pattern mistake! by
the black rose
This one I didn't notice until I started piecing the rows this evening.
Here's the block:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/143983013/336320478sgLZkL
It's rotated 45 degrees -- each "arm" of the design is supposed to be
straight up and down or across, not on the diagonals. I double-checked
the...

long arm quilt services by
Frank & Renee
Hi,
I'm just making small projects right now because I don't have the workspace
for a full size quilt. I want a queen size one for my bed by the end of the
year, however. If I were able to make a quilt top of that size but I wanted
a long arm quilter to do the topstitching (probably a uniform...

shopping for machine...question about used one vs new by
Frank & Renee
Hi,
I've decided to go with a Husqvarna machine...I've got it down to two: a
used Designer II (now called the Quilt Designer II) that doesn't comes with
three stitch cards...N1, O1, and A1, but no E1 which has the quilting
stitches. The machine is supposed to be less than 6 months old since...

OT Joke - Why are men happier? by
Sharon Harper
Surprisingly some of these ring true....
Why ARE Men Happier?
* Men Are Just Happier People - What do you expect from such simple
creatures?
* Your last name stays put.
* The garage is all yours.
* Wedding plans take care of themselves.
* Chocolate is just another snack.
* You can be...

frame vs hoop by
Marijke
I've been eyeing some frames but I have a grace square polymer hoop that
I really love. It's very flexible and was worth every penny I spent on it.
What are the pros and cons of frames vs hoops other than the space issu?
Thanks
Marijke in very HOT Montreal.

OT Directwav by
Christina in Ok
do have it for TV, and have known others who have used it.. good speeds
uploading and downloading.. but does have a bit of a lag. so not good if you
play games online.. However the drawbacks would be, as with the TV.. heavy
clouds or rain will knock it off the net off for a bit.
I would only use...

Just a sweet lady by

Ran across this and thought I would share.

Nothing exciting or high flown.
Merely a lady who is nice.
The kind of lady a great many women hope to be when they are in their
90's.
Me, I want to be her, but on a Princess cruise accompanied by...

fusible applique tips? by
the black rose
I'm starting to plan my next quilt -- I'm thinking I'll do the applique
roses BOM on the Quiltime site, in fusible applique because I don't want
to spend the rest of the year on it.
The problem with fusible applique is it tends to be less cuddly than
hand applique. I know that you can get around...

NEW UFO- DRESDAN PLATE by
SNIGDIBBLY
My DM made these blocks many years ago but never completed them. When she
died in 10/91 I took them and then I never finished them. They have sat in
my UFO basket ever since. I thought I would just sew them together but
then some bubble gum pink fabric fell off my stash shelf and I figured my...
