KJ
I just got a call that I won a raffle prize at a quilt show I attended this
weekend. I won a Maytag cordless iron! Not a bad return on my $5 ticket!
Drinks all around!

Applique by
teleflora
(I sent this last night in the middle of a terrible thunderstorm and I can't
find where it showed up on the NG. It may have been blown to North Dakota
for all I know. I am resending - sorry if you have read it before)
Ok, somebody tell me that I was crazy to first try my hand at appliqué on...

Signing off for a while by
Maureen Wozniak
I've found myself absolutely swamped between work stuff and home stuff, so
I'll likely not be around much for a while.
I will be thinking of you all. Know that everyone who needs them will have
my hugs and prayers, and I'll be happy dancing with everyone who has reason
to celebrate.

Popeye forearms.....on topic by
pajaritaflora
I'm attempting to machine quilt some of the Royal Kitty. I did some
straight lines...that's working ok. Now I'm trying the stipple. Is this
a workout for your forearm muscles? I never can tell how the medical
treatment is going to react with my body. But I didn't think I was that
weak. Is it me?...

Moving to PA by
Alice M. Bonnell
In two weeks I'll be moving to Morgantown, Pa. I have heard that there is a
large quilt shop there called the Hayloft. Are there any other quilters or
quilt shops in the area? I might as well research these things now while my
sewing things are packed and ready to go.

Have you ever felt "called" to make a quilt?? by
Roberta
For some reason I have been really feeling the "need" to make a civil
war repro quilt...
I have googled and found some books about civil war quilts - all seem
to have mixed reviews.
Anyone have any experience researching vintage quilts? Can anyone
recommend a good book on quilts of this time...

Quilts using bigger scraps? by
dogmom
In my need to get a real job, I've started sewing clothes again. (And yes, 2
pieces of cloth which I hadn't gotten around to making into tops were
finally cut out *just* so I could use fussy cut some of them for a quilt!)
Question: what do y'all do with odd larger pieces, say 3" or so? I'm
thinkin'...

who was driving on I-80?? by
KJ
I went to an awesome quilt shop today! It's called Fiber Works, 831 Main
Street in Grinnell, Iowa. Fabulous!
It's only been open about 3 months, so it's probably not in any travel books
yet. Don't miss it! It's even open Sundays 12-4. She has lots of fabric
(with more coming in every day),...

Satin stitch help? by
WhansaMi
I've just started satin stitching around some fused applique... and I SUCK!
:-O
I do okay on the straight areas, but when I get to curves -- or have small
round pieces, they end up all jaggedy. Can someone point me to some tips on
satin stitching?
TIA

Has anyone heard from Polly? I don't think the storm hit very close to her,

Shout Colour Catchers by
shhdesigns
I picked up a box of these on my trip and I'm a believer. Tried it out on a
black and white sweater I washed and then dried flat...you guessed the black
ran into the white, I was heartbroken. But I couldn't throw it out.
When I was unpacking I found them and thought why not, I've got nothing...

Finished a crazy quilt piece by
Lisa Caryl
Hi everyone,
Doing a bit of a happy dance here as I finished my moon box! I have pictures
of how it looks with the trim around the box, as well as a side view so you
can see the "legs" I added to it. It was fun to come up with unusual
materials for those :-). This is the piece that has Dianna's...
