silk painting by BDS2pds
After doing several days research, closely examining the original silk paintings saved by Abby Aldrich Rockefeller in Colonial Williamsburg here, getting the floor frame ready and the silks divided, I am plying needle to the linen seedcloth today. You know how that first stitch is scary!

OT - new signature poll by anne
In another life, I had a more descriptive signature, complete with a link to a web site. In this incarnation, I'm not trying to hide my real self but I don't want the email to be harvested so I'm thinking about using something like option 1: I give good thread -- which is kind of pun-ny given that...

Good Neeldepoint Kit? by Suzanne
Hey all, I hope someone can help me with this. I've done some needlepointing before, but it's been a long time. Would any of you be able to suggest a good needlepoint kit for me to try? I'm looking for something that has good instructions but will take me beyond the basics. In other words I...

Busy stitcher by Mlle Ilvesvuori
Hi everyone! Here at work there is one person who is leaving us soon. She is not gonna die. But anyway, we have a group here. A group which is making a big card for her. A thank you card. And when I heard of that project I thought "I must make her a farewell present." I remembered immediately one...

Converging arts by anne
While I mostly watched on the sidelines about the scrapbooking debate, I was in creativity heck -- I had a vision for a design but wasn't at all happy with test results. Unlike lula, I can't just go with the flow and produce something that I like. Thank goodness for my computer which enabled me to...

Anybody with Husqvarna Platinum Plus? :) by Steppe Flower
I was wondering if there are people here who own Husqvarna Platinum Plus machine. I am considering purchasing it, and would appreciate some feedback on the following questions: 1) what is your impression? does it do what you wanted it to do? :) 2) is it necessary to purchase Husqvarna software or...

Needlepoint rug photos by Eli Tcha
Everyone has a unique taste. So every room should have a unique style accordingly. A beautiful needlepoint rug would light your house up and catch the eyes of your friends. I photoed a lot of needlepoint rug pieces right after they were stitched, positioned. They are real pieces other than...

Behaviour at Shows by memm
Am I the only stitcher totally disheartened with attending shows by the small minority of people who think barging everybody aside with all the skills employed on the rugby field is acceptable behaviour! I've just about survived Stitch 2004 at London Olympia today but my main memory is of the bad...

"And They Sinned" Chart by Robin Lund
I have just started working on "And They Sinned". I absolutely love the design....but the chart is terrible. The symbols are barely recognizable and if I did not have a color photograph of the finished project, I would not be able to select the correct color. The chart was fairly...

intro by Duckie
Hi all, I am new here and I spent some time reading through people's messages. You all sound so nice here. Nothing like some of the other groups around here who get all nasty and name-calling. Anyway, I go by the nickname Duckie. I love doing cross stitch and I have done that for just a few months...

Ot " Artistic " / " Creative" / craft / art by Mirjam Bruck-Cohen
Many of the the more productive debates here go around the `exact` or non `right` uses of what is considered craft / art / artistic/ creative etc.... Each one here brings her/his knowlege and experience as well as her/his hopes and wishes , , into such a debate. It is perfectly understandable and...
