Grandmother's Stitching by
Alison
Well, sadly my parents are moving from their home of 40 years to an
assisted living apartment. It's good for them but just sad to see all
the stuff that has to go. I went through my grandmother's stitching
and selected some lovely cutwork, shadow work, and a very fine thread
lace doily. I don't...

For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way

Serious Kitting Question by
Poetta
Ok ... I've noticed that quite a few people on rctn really hate kits,
and I don't blame them at all. I've had my share of disasters with a
couple of them also. However, Ladybug Lane is doing some kits (to be
out in the next Herrschner's catalog), and we're using only the
original fabrics (Zweigart,...

loop starts on needlepoint by
Bungadora
Well, Santa's little helper has finally started making Xmas gifts for the
kiddies. I'm making a little Oriental carpet for my grand-niece's doll house
(not the Dec. Piecework one - gorgeous, but if I'm going to spend $150-$200C on
materials, I'll keep it for myself, thanks). Any reason why a loop...

Another reason -- by
Nerak
I have been following the thread of stitched pieces that were given as gifts
and 'unappreciated'. My question is "Why do we stitch"?
Personally, I stitch because I love the 'process'. I have almost no
attachment to the finished piece. If a piece is requested, then I will stitch
for someone else,...

Embroidery Question by
Don Wagner
I had an idea that sounded great, but it isn't working out too well - maybe
someone here knows the answer. I got some dissolving paper, and ran it
through a copy machine to print the pattern on it I wanted to embroider.
Then I put a light coat of basting spray on it, and tacked the paper to...

Floba shoulder bag by
Carolyn Wagner
Has anyone stitched on one of these? I would love to do one, but wondered if
there was already a protective covering on the inside of the bag to keep
things from snagging the stitched thread or if I have to had a lining
myself. Also, I'm really hard on purses. Any suggestions to help protect...

I am doing it. I am actually sitting down, using the label maker I had to

Another reason you shouldn't stitch for just anyone by
Donna D.
I was at the Salvation Army store and saw a Pocahontas cross stitch picture
beautifully framed for 3.99. And we all know how much a kit and framing
costs and just to be given away like that. It would have taken me months to
stitch something like that.
Some people just don't get what it takes and...

opalescent/opalescence? by
[email protected]
Hi,
Are there two fibers, opalescent and opalescence? I have
a stitch guide which implies that the fiber needed cal be
plied, but the thread my LNS sells cannot be, and so I
got to wondering if there are two similarly named fibers?
If so, who manufactures each and does anyone have a source
for...

That picture shows you the only canvas type I have ever used. I am able to
see the holes better. Sounds crazy, I know...but I just am not used but this
type. And the big-hole version. Must send sometimes a project to someone in
RCTN and you will see how...

maybe these pics help you.

are the ones I have used to stitch. They are easy...
