research for a new sewing machine by
Michelle C[_3_]
Eventually, I hope to buy a machine that is more suited to machine
quilting than my Kenmore (although I've got no complaints with it as a good
standard sewing machine). And no, I won't be buying a long-arm--can't
afford it. That said, I'd be very interested to hear what features you
think are...

Mini B.C. quilt shop tour by
shhdesigns
Hi all
It's been a while since I've done any regular posting so hi to the new
folks, congrats on your new quilts and condolences to those we have lost or
been sick.
Tuesday morning my mom and I caught a ferry to the Sunshine Coast. This is
actually part of the mainland of B.C. but you have to...

I really tried to love her. by
John
I will say it again. I really tried to love her. That Bernina Aurora
430 with all the bells and whistles. Let me back up a bit. I have sewn
all my life on mechanical machines. I never wanted to get a
computerized machine, but fell victim to the vagaries of sewing
machine lust, and happenstance....

OT Immunizations?? For young and the more mature. by
Joanna
Just wanting people's thoughts on this. You can e-mail me privately if
you wish. I'm not looking for a flame war, just some honest real life
thoughts. The first website is a site you can look up the shots a lot of
us received as children. The actually little piece of paper that comes
with the shot...

elusive fabric! (long) by
Debbi
Pat,
I will have to take you shopping with me sometime. I bought some really
pretty Benartex fabric last year and started to use it this year on an Irish
Chain quilt. It was looking so good that I decided to make the quilt bigger
so that it would fit on my queen size bed, but alas, I can't find...

I have a problem. by
AliceW
Terri, welcome to the group - you are not alone! The only tip I can give
you is not to even joke about your job taking time away from your quilting -
I did this once and got laid off from my job! No job = no shopping for
fabric! From your other descriptions, it sounds like you have...

Thanks, and more difficult news about Tyler by
Connie Einarson
I have taken a long time planning how I would write this post. I have
gone over it and fixed it and changed it and changed it back again.
First of all, I need to thank all of you for your prayers and good
wishes. I have only been able to access the newsgroup once a day,
needing to keep the...

Correct height for cutting table and sewing machine? by
The Brown Family
I just read something that made me think I should ask this question, because
I often wonder about it and don't know the answer. So, does anyone know
what the correct height that your sewing machine should be, as well as a
cutting table???

HMS Daring complete with wake by
ed
Here it is in all its glory awaiting stretching:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/12554259@N07/2319032366/
I have to say the wake is my personal, most disliked part of the quilt. Done
with muslin and never to be touched again until stretched in a week or so.

OT-missing son update by
Marlys in Indiana
Figured I'd better check in, besides just lurking in the background.
Just want to thank all of you for the prayers, good thoughts and well
wishes. I really can't understand why my son hasn't been found, unless, as
the detective in charge of the case says, perhaps he doesn't want to be
found. ...

fabric amounts for quilts by
Taria
So I come across a neat quilt in Fons and Porter's magazine (sept./oct.
2008) It is called Mariner's in a Pickle.
It could work for what I want to do. Under the materials list is 2-3/4 yds
of 17 prints. 2 yds. for binding and
14 yards for backing. That comes to a whopping 62-3/4 yards. My...

Question About Sears Electronic Sewing Machine by
I've been wanting to use the script printing for my quilt labels,
however.......I've totally forgotten how to make the letters bigger than a
1/4" high. I can put all the letters in memory, etc., but my sewing book is
vague about the sizing. The lady at the store did it, but she's gone now
and I'm...

Why am I surprised? I don't know, but I am. I really am. In fact
surprised doesn't cover it. Shock & awe might apply. (grin) Here's the
story - parts I've been told, and parts I experienced. (grin)
It all started way back on June 9 when Cindy posted about the tragedy I had
experienced in...

OT Where I've been (long) by
NightMist
Well, as y'all have probably figured out by now, it never just rains
at my house, it pours. If things are going to happen here, they
happen all at once.
I believe I mentioned briefly that I was sick for a bit. Another week
of fever (103-105 F) to leave me dried out and wobbly. I've no idea
why...

stack & slash quilt pattern by
Kris Bishop
Hi All,
Does anyone know of a web site that has the directions for the
"Stack & Slash" quilt? I used to have one "bookmarked" a long time
ago, but can't find it now. I know to use about 6- 12" squares and
then slash, swap the pieces & then sew them back together, but I'd
really like to...

OT sad news by
M Rimmer
My mum (Sheila) died last night just after 2am. She was at home, I was
with her, along with dad, my sisters, and mum's brother and sisters.
She'd had cancer for 7 years, so we knew it was coming but it didn't
half go fast in the last few days.
She taught me (without ever saying it in so many...
