Disposing of Glazes by anna
I mix my own glazes from dry ingredients, and therefore often have small test batches that just don't work out. My question is what is the proper way to dispose of these glazes? My first instinct is to let them dry out and just toss them in the garbage, but there has got to be a better...

Today is the deadline for sending in your Strictly Functional entries! http://www.art-craftpa.com/sfpn1.html Does anyone here have any experience with Strictly Functional? I entered last year but didn't make it, so I'm trying again. Good luck to anyone entering!

Wheel with lugs on it by Anne Mossman
I'm a relative novice at the wheel and to date have used studio and rented wheels (without lugs). I've just acquired my own new wheel and ordered it with lugs on it, thinking it must be more useful/efficient to sit bats on it this way than to have to make clay chucks to hold bats on. Having taken...

Glaze research by Anne Mossman
I am doing research as part of a university (distance) ceramics course and wondered if anybody can point me in the direction of internet based information on glazes, their history, development etc. The glaze I have chosen is tomato red but if I can't find much about it I'll research something...

Selling Pottery by annemarie
I went to a weekend demonstration by Jeff Oestreich recently. http://www.studiopottery.com/potters/oestreichjeff.html In his opinion in America pottery and hand made "stuff" is popular again and selling well?? Do other Americans experience this? Hope it happens here in NZ. Annemarie

Sculpture by annemarie
Ok mostly I make pottery, but sometimes I get inspired to try sculpture. I especially like using paperclay. I find it very difficult to sculpt eyes though. Having them closed is fine, but open is very difficult for me. I have done one just now with a young woman in a strapless gown, standing...

water proof by annemarie
OK guys, if you buy or sell a plant container with a base tray do you think it should be water proof? We bought a living christmas tree and I got a nice pot (no time to make one myself) from the pot warehouse and planted our little tree in it. Moved it outside today and the tray has leaked and the...

glaze toxicity by annemarie
A few years ago someone posted a great list of glaze materials and their relative toxicity. I have lost it unfortunately. I went onto the net to look for something but couldn't find anything very good. In the pottery group I belong to many of the members have little idea of the dangers. I would...

Hello everyone! I am new to the pottery wheel, and while I am still practicing getting the clay centered I wanted to find out what kind of tools I will need as I get into this. Also if anyone knows of a good website about learning to use the wheel Id love to take a look at it. Thanks for your...
