1 Attachment(s) machine opinions please by carolyn
I am looking for a basic sewing machine. I have narrowed my choices down to models from Elna, Babylock, and Husqvarna/Viking. I know very little about the quality, reliability and service of any of the manufacturers. Any information or opinions would be a great help to me. TIA carolyn

April Fool's Prank by Delain
Go to www.simplicity.com and click on design search. Type in number 5363. Click on the result. One of these things is not like the others. The best part? Simplicity's had this on their site for at least a week now and no one's reported it.

Linings by [email protected]
"Irene Scott" Very interesting idea. But it sounds more time consuming & complicated than making a lining from the coat pattern? But I'm intrigued...do let us know how it turns out! Never having made a lined coat I can't say, but as this shirt was already

Need suggestions for design of sewing/stitching room by Marianne Teubner
My DH and I are just starting the exploration of building our dream retirement house and I am going to have a bedroom to use as my sewing/stitching room. Today, as we discussed some of the house plans in a book we are studying, we measure out one room that is 12 X 11 and decided that the Koala...

Sleeves by [email protected]
I am in the process of making a coat after about 5 shirts as my total sewing experience. After cutting the two pieces for one sleeve and stitching them together, everything seemed to be a mirror image in subsequent steps. When I basted the sleeve into an armhole, it was obviously backwards. I...

Linings by [email protected]
While working through the lining of my coat, an idea came to mind as a simple way to line a shirt/jacket. Seems like one could take an old shirt or make one for the purpose and use the whole thing as a lining for a jacket made of a heavy fabric such as home spun wool. I got a shirt out of my...

Fiddler on the Roof and other costumes by Cynthia Spilsted
A great big thank you to everyone who helped out with my Tallit 'problem' for the Fiddler on the Roof. The costumes turned out beautifully (so sayeth the girls who had to be the boys!) and the dance was very successful at our first festival. We go to festival in Terrace the second week of April...

Restaurant Bridezilla by [email protected]
RUN!!!! They're spreading, invading every aspect of one's life! My neighbors took me out for their anniversary dinner a week or so ago, (lovely twist which I truly appreciated). We were trying to have a quiet conversation, when a gaggle of young ladies arrived. They no sooner sat down, than they...

Fiddler on the Roof costumes by Cynthia Spilsted
Okay guys - I'm tearing my hair out on this one: is it okay for a Tallit (Jewish prayer shawl) to have dark green stripes instead of the blue that is traditionally used? There are no people of Jewish ancestry to ask and we certainly don't want to cause any offense with our costumes for...
