Border opinions please! by
jennellh
I have created a "Ufo" album in webshots where those sort of items
will sit and wait http://community.webshots.com/user/barnyowl
The blue scrappy was finally stitched together yesterday (it was a
good atmospheric day for sewing!) - now I have to consider my options
for bordering it. The blocks...

Sashing help by
MaleQuilter
I am now working on my first embroidery block quilt (actually 42" x
42" wallhanging). Nine redwork blocks with sashing. I squared up my
blocks and sewed blocks into three rows and am now ready to sew the
long vertical sashing between the rows.
Help!
How do I pin and sew the vertical sashing so...

Name this quilt by
Pat in Virginia
Okay, so the quilt is not yet made, but I need the name
ASAP. Why? Because the Challenge Chairman needs to
start making the display cards, etc. The quilt will
feature shoes. I would love to come up with a fun title
for the quilt ... maybe a song, or maybe a play on
words, or maybe a pun....

places to go to quilt by
Cindi
This may seem like an odd question but here goes... Are there places
where I could go, take my quilt with me, and use their machine to
quilt it? Not hire them to do it. I don't have the room for a long
arm quilter but I'd love to try one and/or use it on occasion. I'd
pay of course. Has anyone...

sewing machine in for service by
Anne Rogers[_3_]
I finally managed to get enough stuff completed such that I could get my
machine in for service and not but too much pressure on myself when it's
returned to get things done on time!
Now I feel bereft, what do I do with myself, how to I occupy myself in
the time I would have spent sewing!
I'm...

My yoga center is having a photo contest for a calendar for 2008; I'm
going to submit this. That was the real deadline -- I needed it done

Quarter square triangles by
Anne Rogers[_3_]
I've only been quilting since January and in general I think I'm doing
pretty good :-), my blocks come out with good points and the right size,
save for one thing - quarter square triangles, I'm pretty sure my
stitching doesn't suddenly go nuts when I'm stitching them, so it can't
be that, I'm...

tessellating maple/oak leaves by
Sunny[_2_]
Hi,
Does anybody know of a decent pattern for tessellating maple leaves or
oak leaves or any kind of tree leaves? I really need one, fairly soon.
I want to piece a background for an applique wallhanging and it would
look really amazing to have it be interlocking leaves because the
applique is a...

Machine Quilting Advice needed by
- dlm.
Hi, I'm Dawn, and I am a self-professed MQing "failure." I've taken
classes, and practised. I've practised quilting straight lines. I've
practised stipple quilting. I've even practised MQing the pattern on the
fabric. When I MQ small blocks ( no larger than 24 * 24 inches ), the
quilting...

THE DIRECTORY. MY FINAL WORD by
niasha
I'm confused? Was one of the criteria for inclusion the number of posts over
a two month period? Ill health, moving, computer problems, etc. can all
contribute to a member's lack of participation at any time. I don't always
respond to he group but to the individual. While difficult to type, I do...

New Quilt and basting frame (long) by
John
Well, I just couldn't help myself. Along with painting the outside of
the north wall of the house I just had to do a little quilting to keep
busy during my downtime moments, while quiting for the paint to dry.
The link shows the finished products. The Quilt is the Fan Quilt
on Trellis, that I had...

OT/I got bad news by
grammykathy
Early this morning at about 1AM my youngest son called me and told me
that someone had set fire to their car. It was parked in front of
their house and had both of the grandgirls seats in it. Now they have
no car, no carseats and no way for him to get back and forth to work.

attention quilters in Germany by

A member of my quilt guild will be in Germany the last two weeks in
September. She is bringing her mother back so they can visit all the
places she and family members lived and record her mother's memories
of WWII.
My friend would love to visit at least one quilt shop in Germany and
bring home...

bargain fabric - Ikea by

Just back from another trawl round the local Ikea - why is it that I go
looking for a couple of mugs and end up filling the car? Anyway. They have
some really good fabric in at the moment. In the children's section they're
selling fabric 3m long x 120cm wide for £4.99...

Rita should be happy dancing by

I would just like to encourage the bragging of a certain RCTQ member
(OK, Rita), who did the most BEAUTIFUL long-arm quilting on a quilt
for me this summer. I plan to take photos and brag here for her, but
I want to put on the binding first, and that could take awhile. Since
I know she already...
