Has anyone here made one? I bought a book from 1983 about it, and I'm gearing up to make one. If you've made one, please can you share pictures of it? -- Jo in Scotland

Non-quilting Child update by off kilter [email protected]
I posted in the FaceBook RCTQ group, but wanted to make sure that I posted it so that those that aren't on FB can share in my excitement :-) Rebekah - you know, the one that is almost 10, that Karen posted all the information about in here for me - has been invited to test for her next belt in...

Use for Postcard Sleeves? by Susan Laity Price
While cleaning and rearranging my studio I found a package of plastic Postcard Sleeves (3 11/16" x 5 3/4"). I know I bought them for something to do with quilting but can't remember what was the intended purpose. Anyone have any ideas? Susan

What a difference a year makes! by Jennifer in Ottawa
I remembered a post from Betsy regarding the Accuquilter system. I had replied that it seemed expensive for the dyes, etc and that she would probably be better off applying the retail price towards her sewing machine that was on layaway. I have changed my mind because of medical reasons! I...

Looking for fabric... by Ursula Schrader
Hello all, does any of you know of a fabric with cat motifs which cover an area of about 4 inches/10 cm square? I'm looking for a new 'centrepiece' for a quilt for DD. I had planned to make her one in the Chinese Coins pattern with larger inserts or 'medallions' (if that is the correct term for...

Binding query... by - dlm.
Hello! I recently decided to finish an ancient Asian Style lap quilt. I do mean ancient! The lap quilt was started in 2002. All the blocks were made but I just never cut the strips for the skinny and wide borders. Nor did I cut and make the bias binding. Fast forward to present day... Whilst...

I don't mean the implement but the person who wields it. I started to trim up some fabrics to make fat quarters, 5-1/4"squares, 6-1/8" squares and 4-14" squares --not pretty at all unless I cut single layer --- I found that my arm strength is more diminished than I had thought last week (don't...

So, picked 6 different purples to use for DDs quilt....supposed to be a total of 31 strips, 2" wide....I just kept cutting every fabric, so I ended up with 48 strips...that works....I can toss them into a pile and randomly grab a strip and go to town..... Now I have to press the white and cut...

Thank you, Everyone! by Jennifer in Ottawa
I've been card hugged!! I was totally surprised today when my DS brought up my mail - so many cards and well wishes from friends, old and new - some real groaner jokes, special embroideries, postcards - owls, birds. Each and every item will be cherished for a long time to come - I'll be attaching...

for those not on FaceBook by [email protected]
Just wanted to touch base here - I'm on FB more than anything else these days. Brady, the goofy chocolate lab who hated water, passed away suddenly last night. Apparently he had a tumor rupture and there was nothing they could do to save him. Thomas has claimed Brady's HUG for himself, along...

Hello folks, I received olive oil for Christmas - went to the cupboard and I already have 3 bottles of it! Plus 2 bottles of balsamic vinegar. Clearly I'm not using it as fast as I am receiving it. Do any of you have great recipes for using these ingredients? I would like to try them...

Sewing Summer Clothes by Bobbie Sews More
I've been busy sewing summer play clothes for GD and teaching her sewing at the same time. That means, at 12 yr. old the first part of July, she has been helping me and learning at the same time. This week end we will be making matching headbands, and maybe quilting material to make a tote...

How many PIGS do you have? by Jennifer in Ottawa
Just received the e-newsletter from Quilters newsletter which talks of PIGS (projects in grocery sacks) - the one in question was begun in 2000. I know that I have a sackful of various quilty projects in many different phases of completion - at what point on construction, do you tend to stall in...

Apologies for being absent by Sunny[_2_]
I am so sorry to have been away for so long. I would say that it's because I've been busy quilting, but that's not really true. I've been busy ... raising two puppies, getting son #2 off to Air Force basic training (we went to Texas for his graduation a few weeks ago), getting son #1 started in a...

My mum is dying 8 time zones away. I haven't seen her in 27 years.....my 5 older siblings (3 sisters and 2 brothers) are there at the hospital with her. I feel so far away from them all. My mother wasn't perfect and my childhood wasn't ideal, but she is still my mother, and helped make me who...
