OT anyone done a sleep study by Anne Rogers[_2_]
We seem such a rich, varied group, I can't believe no one has done an overnight sleep study. I'm going for one on Wednesday night, I'm really quite nervous, I don't really know what to expect, I know that they have to wire me up, but I'm feeling very inhibited by the idea of someone watching me...

English paper piecing by Morag in Scotland
Is there anyone else who prefers this method of making patchwork or quilt tops rather than using a machine? I was taught many moons ago using this method - I think my Mum still has the mat I made out of hexagons backed onto felt. I have tried with the "sewing machine" way of stitching together...

New to me machine by Debi Matlack
Freecycle can be wonderful! I got a machine, in its cabinet, that the lady said belonged to her grandmother. It is an aqua, weighs-a-ton Dressmaker machine. I know absolutely nothing about it and have yet to try her out. She needs a good oiling I'm sure. Any ideas and suggestions about how to...

for Sunny by offkilterquilter
arrived yesterday - had me a bit confused as I didn't remember ordering anything from Amazon lately :-) Thanks *so* much...the red just may end up as a dress for me and the chiffon print will probably go to a blouse. The children were actually fighting over who got something made from what...

Trellis Quilrt by [email protected]
When I was looking at other things, I came across this rather ineresting quilt, which I had never seen before. As long as one keeps the colors straight, it looks fairly easy to do: http://perso.orange.fr/struss/oldbom/baout.htm The page is not in English, but it is fairly straight forward. Bev...

music theory pattern by Marion Bowles
(Actually Jack Campin here, my computer is under a dust cover at the moment). Music theory geeks only. Take a look at this: http://www.milesokazaki.com/majortriads.html It does more than he says, the unlabelled triangles are minor triads and there are all kinds of interesting relationships...

a challenge by Jessamy
It occurred to me today (while I had a house full of visitors) that it might be really intimidating for a person to introduce themselves into a room full of strangers at a social event and that usually the hostess would do some intro's and make sure that the person is looked after and happy. In a...

canadian trip? by Morag in Scotland
My DH is currently doing some work for the British Army and there is a possibility that later in the year he will be flying out to Canada for a couple of weeks. He is very vague about the exact location, but it's somewhere near Calgary (well, Calgary is the nearest large airport) and where the...

Whew! (Mostly OT) by Sandy
I've been rather frustrated for the past few days, because my telephone service was on-again, off-again. If the phone service isn't cooperating, of course I can't get online, which adds to the frustration. I've spent more time on my cell phone with the phone company than I'd want to think...

Comforting Memorial quilt-lets by Mauvice in central WI
My Monday Sewing group, Sew nTell, made up of past students , fellow guild members, charity sewers and anyone looking for a large workspace to sew, surprised me yesterday at lunch with a little box filled with 5-6" little quilts to remember the recent passing of my lifelong friend. Each little...

need an idea! by Anne Rogers[_2_]
I'm mostly been working on quilting recently, getting some things finished and making progress with others. Having finished one and almost finished another (about half an hour hand stitching remaining) yesterday, I'm ready to get my teeth into another top. I'm thinking wall hanging size, but I'm...

amazingly on topic! by Karen, Queen of Squishies
I just finished - amazingly - rootling through my entire stash! Isn't it just shocking what a person can accomplish in ten and fifteen minute increments over a couple months time? (admittedly a small stash, but still!) In the process, I also found all my WIPS and PIGS. But instead...

swap : dora the explorer fabric? by Morag in Scotland
Where does the time go - my 19 month old daughter, Iona, is already walking, talking and developing a huge obsession with Dora the Explorer. Doesn't seem like 2 minutes since I was posting on here fed up, tired and bored because she was 9 days overdue. Anyhow. I'd love to do her a Dora quilt...
