a preview picture by
KJ
I took a couple pictures of the raffle quilt at the current stage. It's in
my webshots album called "waiting to be quilted".
I think I also posted a picture of the needlepunch embroidery piece I just
did. However for some reason it says "premium" next to the album. Let me
know if you can't view...

OT help with cholesterol by
Joanna
I'm 34 and just got told that I have high cholesterol. I'm shocked. I'm
not the one eating a big bag of potato chips every night. I am the one
that eats salads, and green stuff along with fresh and canned veggies.
My husband won't eat this stuff unless I'm home and I put it on his
plate. Other wise...

Best Lone Star directions? by
Johanna Gibson
Hello,
My favourite nephew will be 18 next June, and I'd like to make him a
Lone Star quilt, queen size. Have any of you here made one, and whose
directions did you like best? I'd like to do strip-piecing instead of
hand piecing a thousand diamonds, and I'd like the star bit to stay on
top of the...

Late thanks by
The Laws
After I came home with the pacemaker I was kind of in the dumps because I
couldn't see thatt I had gained anything
One of you ladies told me to be patient, it takes time to become bionic.
And after that every time I thought about that remark, I smiled, and tried
to be patient. It worked I told...

OT update on niece by
judy in fort worth
The prayers for my niece are definitely working. The cervical surgery
appears to be successful and the doctor is confident that Ellie will carry
the baby thru week 35 if all goes as it has been. She is still on modified
activity but they are no longer talking in terms of bed rest. The new...

good quilty day by
maryd
Today was the first day after starting my new job that I really got time at
the sewing machine. I did 2 hug blocks and finished the top for Bella's
quilt. I even found 3 remnants in my stash for the backing and binding on
Bella's Butterflies. I'll work on that my next day off (tomorrow if I...

DESPERATELY need to make room for my stash... by
Musicmaker
I have boxes (plural) of fabrics that are mostly too heavy (some are just
not my style) for quilting, that I've finally decided I'll never use. Any
takers? All I ask is for reimbursement on the shipping once the box arrives
at your door. There are flannels, which ARE for quilters but not for...

charm quilt questions by
Helen in MN
Well, I bought the papers in 2000, so technically it could be millennium
quilt - okay, so that didn't fly.
Anyway, I have been making my 2" paper diamonds, working towards a tumbling
block quilt. I have enough made that I can start playing with them. So some
questions are popping up for you...

delaying by
KJ
I'm toward the end of a piecing project. Am I the only one who dreads
wrestling those last couple seams and pinning the intersections? I have
part of it pinned and needed to walk away for a few minutes. I have to do
this in stages or I get impatient and sloppy. Since I usually don't pin
when I...

Itty bitty bits.. getting rid of them by
FurrsomeFoursome
Does/can anyone use REALLY little scraps?
I have a major conflict in my mental state right now, in that I am
generally a vehement anti-packrat, but I cannot in good conscience
throw out textile items of any quality above that of dryer lint.
Hence I now have a couple of gallons of bits from...

Hello,

everyday, or week for that matter lol. I am a full time university
student, and a single mom with 4 kids so email is usually the last thing on
my mind to be writing. I started making quilts for my son's in 2003. ...

The Directory? by
Carissa
I missed out this time around, but how would one go about getting on the
directory? Is it for swaps and such? I was on a soap making list before
and thats what we had so I may be totally wrong there lol. Anyhow... there
is another bit about me. I am a soapmaker :) And anything else...

Directory Issues and Information by
AliceW
I hope I am not speaking out of turn here and I don't want to speak for LN,
but I think this is important to post.
I believe LN is resending the email in two sessions with the Directory
attached. I have already received the second email with the attachments and
everything worked fine. If you do...

News O' Mine--OT and otherwise by
joan8904 in Bellevue Nebraska
I taught my first class at the Country Sampler Quilt Shop (Papillion
NE) last night. It was a Needlepunch class and, I thought, great fun.
By the time the ladies left, I felt they were all punching confidently.
I do love teaching. And punchneedle embroidery is a neat, quick and
satisfying old/new...

how to piece small borders by
KJ
I need to piece the next small border on the raffle quilt. The strips are
cut 1 1/4". Would you piece it diagonally or just a straight seam. / or
l ? Oh I guess that didn't illustrate as well as I thought.
And no matter how well I thought I was managing the seam allowances, I
always! end up...

OT leaving for a few days by
Joanna
I'm leaving thursday for five days. But between now and then I work
every day and need to get ready so I probably won't have time to read
the group. Meaning when I do get back there will be over a 1000's
messages and I will have to mark all as read. Know that my prayers are
with everyone in this...
