Help with knitted slippers by
angel_crafter
Hi all.. For those knitters out there, I need some help with finding an
easy pattern for a pair of knitted slippers..
A neighbor next door has ordered a pair, but the patterns I have here,
are alright, but I am not too sure if they will work for her size feet.
She wears a size nine.
Can anyone...

Instant Mittens by
WoolyGooly
My son has lost two pairs of mittens this year. Keep in mind - we
don't live in a particularly harsh climate. We had a 2-day cold snap
in October during which he lost last year's pair that still fit; more
recently we've had chilly weather (including a couple of nights in the
upper 20s) for about...

Was to be a shawl, ended up being a shawlette or mini-shawl.

Some fabulous talent out there... by
willi
Some of you might have discovered this lady before, but I think she is
extremely talented and you might want to browse a bit. She has some
great 'technique' pages for lacework, steeks, etc. I've got to make
those mittens...a work of art. Enjoy!

hi, from a newbie by
kero1au
Hi everyone,
I am Caroline from Adelaide in South Australia. I'm into spinning,
weaving, crochet and knitting and enjoy mixing methods and techniques
in items I make, so freeform does come naturally! I also make some of
my own equipment, as its not always cheap or easy to get hold of things
here,...

Toe-up for the first time.. by
Aud
Waiting for my slippers to dry, I have started toe-up- socks for the
first time!
On my way home from holiday, I bought two balls of a soft,
but "stong" sockyarn
(http://garnsalg.dk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1)
and started to knit the regular way.
BUT one ball was not enough for the...

Yarn Weights by
René
Hi! I haven't knit in quite a while, so I'm amazed at all the lovely new
yarns available. However, I'm confused at how to tell what "weight" a yarn
is. For example, my favorite knitted cap calls for sports weight yarn. But
the new "fuzzy" yarns don't specify what they are. How can I figure...

How will this end? by
Aud
Just popping in after midnight;
The last two days I have done what my daughter told me:
Mum, you need a pair of slippers, why not make something for yourself?
Well, I have some thin 100% lamb's wool (not superwash), which I think
I never would have used for other projects,
I used four treads as...

stupid question number 2 by
Madelaine
In two-color work, when you span more than 3 stiches, the pattern
recommends "weaving the yarn in" so there aren't big loops on the back.
How does one do this? The final product is to be felted (the coasters
I posted before). I am enjoying the two color work.

Project Linus address by
Georgia
I heard about the Linus Project (http://www.projectlinus.org/index.shtml),
which funnels handmade blankets to seriously ill children, about ten years
ago, and immediately began a (knitted) log cabin blanket. I have finally
declared it finished, and it needs to be on its way. Alas I cannot find...

Toe ups finished, pic. and links by
Aud
Now my toe-ups are ready!
They were easy to knit up, and I am sure I will knit some later too. As
you see. the cuffs are very short, that is how far the yarn reached!
I have som short rubber boots, and I think they will be OK in them ;-))
This cast-on was special, here is a good explanation from...

Sittch gauge by
dawn
In knitting a fitted sweater I found the inches of the back 2" under
the measurement it should be although the guage square was perfect, I
am going to try larger needles, should this be a problem?
I have always altered the pattern before but a few knitters have told
me this works just fine. Are...

Ping.Nora. by
Olwyn Mary
Hi Nora, and all the others who only pop in now and again.(plus, of
course, those who are still regular posters.)
We have finally had a few chilly evenings down here, so instead of
turning up the heat I have been snuggling into my "comfortghan" which
lives on the back of my chair.
Thank you...
