OT - school starts this week by Janner
Well school is back on Thursday and DD#1 has been going for 4 years now, but DD#2 is just starting. So I have spent the day sewing in name labels and making sure that all her uniform fits - aww she looks cute, but she can't be old enough for school already, can she? It doesn't seem 5 minutes ago...

Another South of the Border Run-Final Part by shhdesigns
Woke up in Florence to cooler temperatures and dew on the car. First stop was Jodi's quilts, the shop is set back off the highway in a building that also houses a mechanic, so keep your eye out if you are looking for it. Oh, I forgot to mention that Serendipity Quilts & Crafts has a website,...

OT - Help Help Help - Embroidery by Donna in Idaho
Our guild is making quilt blocks for the outgoing president. She picked - what I'm sure are embroidery patterns - Sunbonnet Sue pictures to be appliqued and then done with blanket stitch with black perle cotton. Some of the pieces are tiny - such as the feet and hands & tiny little leaves on the...

Another South of the Border Run-Part 3 by shhdesigns
The next morning we drove out to Auburn and found Machado Orchards. A favourite of our friend BBL-Phyllis and had peach pie for breakfast. Then we wandered around the old town and poked in a few antique shops. Found a wonderful line of Halloween ornaments in the flavour of Willie...

Baby Slings? by frood
Um, mine used O-rings. G I have never seen a pattern. I did see some for sale that a lady had made (in gorgeous batiks), and asked about it and she said she just looked at one and made up a pattern. Well, that was no help to me (or for you!). Good luck with it! I did eventually find 2 that I...

OK to quilt after amnio? by Sylvia
I wouldn't machine-quilt after amnio (or do anything else that requires a sitting-up or hunched-over position). Hand quilting while reclining would probably be okay. -- Sylvia Steiger RN, homeschooling mom since Nov 1995 http://www.SteigerFamily.com Cheyenne WY, USDA zone 5a, Sunset zone 1a Home...

Bernina 830 by Polly Esther
I am wondering exactly what Vic means by the occasional leather project. Are we taking fine grade soft leather and two thicknesses or something tougher? My Bernina is a dear but she wouldn't put up with much in the way of leather. I've tried a couple of times to take up soft leather belts up by the...

YARDAGE CALCULATOR, you have to check this one out!!! by Walt & Cheri Carroll
Wow...I did a quick search and came up with this site. I am amazed. I wish I would have found this site a while back. It looks like it only comes up with one yardage for one colour, ie for HST's I threw in a block size and the quantity and it came up with 1.5 yards. I guess you would buy 3/4...

OT/Pear 'Honey' Recipe Needed from one of you Texas Cooks by [email protected]
Help, help! I've lost my MIL's recipe for Pear Honey! It is a soft fruit jam--very plain, no bells and whistles, pear-tasting, honey-brown, medium in color, the best pear preserves I've ever tasted. MIL was a Texas cook, and I've never seen this recipe elsewhere, so I am hoping one of you Texas...
