Off topic fun! by Cheryl Isaak
Today, DD and I spent the late morning and afternoon with our own Dr. Brat and her dogs at an agility show held in the next town over. While I've "watched" agility on line and on TV, being there is much more fun. This was an indoor venue, thus, it wasn't hot and miserable unless you went...

Floss scraps for birds? Don't do it ... by Tess
I recall reading many years ago on rctn about leaving floss scraps out for birds. Always intended to, but, you know, intentions ... Today I read this: http://www.goodknitkisses.com/psa-dangerous-yarn-scraps-for-birds/ Perhaps it's been discussed over the years, but I found this quite helpful. ...

A-Z of New York by Kate Hare
Hi, I've been toying with the idea of designing an alphabet needlepoint wall-hanging but wanted a theme besides the usual A is for apple.... I thought about doing an International version with each letter in a foreign language before deciding it was way too complicated. Then I thought about doing...

Equivalent Floss to Perle by Lucille
Question for the group that knows it all, I have a pattern that calls for a very small amount of #12 Perle Cotton. I really don't want to buy a full ball of this particular color and wondered how many strands of 6 strand DMC floss, or whatever, I could substitute. Lucille

556 Queen Stitches IR's Mother to Daughter by Queen City x-stitcher
Ok, I resurrected a UFO. It is Indigo Rose's Mother to Daughter Sampler. I had put it aside when I got to area #14. It had queen stitches in a twisted knot pattern. I remember why put it down :-P . Well that section is now done!!!!! I have also progressed to the last side of the nutmeg designs...

OT - my poor dog by Jan Lennie
I have a seven month old black Labrador who we've just found out has no back hip joints ?!!!! He has the 'ball' at the top of his legs but no 'socket' . The vet said (rather worryingly with a glint in her eye) I've never seen that before - so he's been referred to a specialist - he isn't...

Doomed! by [email protected]
I feel doomed not to start Bagatelle. First, I ordered 32 ct lugana for it from Silkweaver, fabric arrived, but was paler than I expected. Much paler. I sent it back, asked for recommendations for other luganas that might work, got linens recommended instead--at only twice the price! After a...

OT - don't do it!!! by anne
For those of you who use PCs, not MACS, do not, I repeat do not, upgrade to Windows Vista or buy a new machine with Vista installed unless you are willing to spend more money to buy new programs that allegedly run on Vista or to spend hours and hours figuring out how to make old programs and...

Stitcher's Murphy's Law? by [email protected]
Is this a law of stitching? When you really get down to work on a piece you will run out of the floss color in the area you need to finish to reach an area where you can use other colors? I ran out of DMC 312 (went thru an entire skein already) in the water around Noah's Sub. I can work on the...

Alphabetizing Designer names by Cheryl Isaak
Ok - don't ask, but for some reason I've decided to alphabetize my charts. (must be the rain!) So, does one file Liz Turner Diehl under T or under D? Lizzie Kate? K? L? Or the one that really has me fuzzled - what order does Artful Impressions, Art-Stitch and ArtVenture go in?

Old Wives tale, wisdom or superstition? by Susie Jordan
I started to begin a new project today to add to my short rotation. But then an old saying that my grandmother used to say popped into my mind. She said that if you begin a project on a Friday, you would never finish it. I then remembered when I was a very young mother making clothes for myself...
