Yarn ratio reference by Vintage Purls
Hi all, Can anyone here point me to an online reference that gives a correlation of yarn count (e.g 110/2) to something a little more understandable (for me) like WPI? VP

Thinking about using horse tail hair to make a belt. Have you done this before? by Bricore
I brushed out all my horses hairs and I saved it. I am thinking about making my daughter a little belt out of it. Adding some beeds and all. Has anyone here ever done this on here before? I was just wondering. Love to have any tips that might help make it easier to do. Well I gotta go. Thanks,

short row shaping by DA[_2_]
What is your preferred method of short row shaping within the body of a garment? If you use the "wrap" technique, do you knit the wrap with the stitch as shown here http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer03/FEATbonnetric.html or do you "unwrap" the stitch and K2/P2 tog? The sweater I am knitting uses...

Att'n Mirjam: Israeli Independence Day by Katherine
We went to a celebration today just a few blocks over from where I am living. Lots of flag waving, singing, and dancing. Did you celebrate today, too? Or is it on a different date? Some of my research after I got back told me that it was on April 29, some said April 11, and some said May 14. So I...

Drive band problems by WoolyGooly
My Kromski has given me no end of driveband problems: the thing has been eating drive bands at the rate of one per hour of spinning. The importer/distributor was no help; they suggested that I sand the rim and all the bobbins to ensure no rough spots were eating my (wet-spun long-line linen)...

Been gone for several days. by Spike Driver
Still working on afghans for the homeless. If I have missed any special days love and blessings to you all. I was reminded that "Grandpa, you mean you don't have my pink socks finished yet". Can a 4 year old Grand Daughter really know how to play her Grandpa already? :) I had to go out of...

Posting problems by Vintage Purls
Just a note to Wendy and anyone else who is suffering problems using Google Groups to post here. There is indeed a recognised problem - Google say they are working on it but haven't given any estimate of time to sort the problem. (See:...

OT about yarn but about soap making. by Bricore
Hello! I hope it's ok to post this. I made some soap today and put pictures inside of it. This isn't anything new and you all might have already seen this stuff before. It was new to me tho and I loved doing it. I wanted to make my mom something she didn't already have and something that would...

Question re Blocking Lace by Laura J
So I have finished knitting my Branching Out scarf. I read the Yarn Harlot's directions for blocking lace he http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/archives/2005/08/23/walk_around_the_block.html I would like to use the method of threading a piece of "smooth yarn" through the stitches along the...

Another moebius finished. by Bernadette
It took a little more time than the first one I made as the stitch was more complicated. The first one had an 8 row pattern where every even numbered row was purled and only odd numbered rows were patterned. This one was only over 6 rows but every row was patterned and took total concentration. I...
