Got a wonderful book on Fair Isle knitting from Dover
(http://store.doverpublications.com/048643107x.html) (though it does repeat
the "200 stitches a minute" story that folks have been unable to verify).
Anyway, it inspired me to practice up on 2-handed, 2-stranded, flying purple
people-eater...

need input on new needles please! by
myswendy
I drove myself crazy trying to find my lovely 10-1/2 wooden DPNs for
several days to do some I-cords. I finally got the bright(??) idea of
cutting my own out of the right-sized dowel (1/4-inch), which I did. I
presume it's pine. Anyway, I got 4 quite decent DPNs from the dowel
with nice points.
I...

jheller
Hi all,
Hope all are well, I've had a busy summer so far. Day trips, craft
shows, now I have some of my things in a good consignment shop.
On one of my thrift store runs I got two large hanks of wool, a light
tan ( natural?) color, but it is all very sticky , kind of oily.
is this normal if it is...

Hello All
Maybe I can shed some light on the website some of you have been visiting.
http://www.annereijse.nl/objectfoto%27s.html
It is a website about a Dutch textile exposition.
The textile artists are the elderly of whom most live in old age homes in
the Nederlands.
Mrs De Vries is the...

Good Sunday to you by
Shillelagh
We have a lovely day here on the prairies, almost too warm if you're working
out in it.
DH & I had to prop up a row of corn that had blown over in the windstorm the
other day. I would have left it, but it was lying over the row of carrots.
We've
been able to start harvesting some of our...

Another wild knitting project by
Karlisa
Unfortunately, I cannot read the text at this particular site, but my
understanding is that all of the knitted objects were created in an attempt
to recreate some elderly lady's apartment!

A knitted walker?? I've seen it all now. :-)
enjoy.

Needles loved and needles hated by
Aaron Lewis
Recently, I was rushed, and left a stash of DPN in a rental car. Some of
those needles were loved.
This morning, I was in a LYS and noticed that she had a new rack of various
kinds of sock needles. I went through the rack looking for needles to
replace recent loss. There was some skacel addi...

Blocking by
Mary Fisher
I've just completed a pi shall, to my own design. It's about 2m, 75"
diameter and I don't know how to block it - I haven't any surface except the
floor which will take that expanse. How do other people do it?
It will be the last time I knit a pi shawl, it became monotonous with no...

Sweater front placket-help please! by
myswendy
Hi guys!
I'm still working through my fair isle doll sweater. The pattern is
gorgeous but unfortunately, the directions leave EVERYTHING to be
desired. It calls for a placket in the front center of the sweater at
the neckline. I guess oftentimes there are buttons there on real
"people sweaters".
I...
