Miniature Ivy? by
Cathy Weeks
Has anyone ever put a bunch of ivy on the outside of a house? My
searches of most sites turned up wallpaper with ivy patterns or potted
plants, not long vines.
I thought about using dark green wire, but getting tiny leaves to
stick to it seemed like a pain.

Possible supply source by
Retiredff
I get a wooden ship model kit catalog from a company called Model Expo
(www.modelexpo.com). They have a large variety of scale wood dowels, woods
strips, wood sheets, various metal tubing and rods, etc. They have a
decorative metal fittings that would work for picture frames, mirrors, etc.
They...

Shingles at junction of gable and roof by
Cathy Weeks
Shingling is going well. I was worried that I'd find it tedious
(especially after the experience of staining them), but it's rather
zen-like, and I enjoy it, and seeing the progress.
Shingles in the junction of gable and roof are also going fine... My
question is more hypothetical...what's to keep...

ModelExpo apologies (wasPossible supply source) by
Retiredff
Sorry about the goof for the address. You can get there by either one of
these:
http://www.modelexpoinc.com/
http://www.modelexpo-online.com
The worst part about it was I had a catalog sitting in front of me, and
still got it wrong:)

There has got to be an easier way to do shingles by
Cathy Weeks
I dyed the shingles for the cottage today. The good news is that they
are turning out to be a lovely shade of reddish brown, reminicent of
cedar.
However, it was a horrible job! They only soaked in the dye for a
minute or so, but they stuck together, and I didn't think they'd turn
out well if...

Surplus Coffee Stirrers available at cost by
Cathy Weeks
Hi,
I couldn't find coffee stirrers locally, so I bought them online. The
only drawback is that I had to buy an entire case. Here's where I
bought them:
http://www.instawares.com/Stirrer-Coffee-Wooden.COFFEE.0.7.htm
My total cost was $10.04 plus $7.60 in shipping for a total of $17.64.
That...

Wow...it worked! (Electrical) by
Cathy Weeks
I've been putting in the tape wire, and installing the eyelets. I
installed the junction splice on the underside of the house (in space
created by the "foundations") I'll route out a "mouse hole" for the
cord to escape.
But I got out the tester, and ALL splices worked. I guess I expected
it to...

Mini Cole Jaws by
Chuck
I just bought a set of mini cole jaws for my SuperNova, and it came
with a set of screws for mounting on the jaw slides that are twice as
long as are needed. Anyone know what they are for? They're listed in
the manual but I can't see any use for them.
TIA

What tools to use when drilling pilot holes for eyelets? by
Cathy Weeks
I bought Cir-Kit's mini drill ($6) and am really glad I did. With an
MDF house, trying to use the pilot hole punch that came with the
wiring kit would be impossible, and even putting the drill bit in the
punch didn't work - I couldn't get the chuck tightened enough, even
with pliers, and trying to...

1/8 inch brads with 1/8 inch plywood? by
Cathy Weeks
My current project has 3/8" MDF walls, and I got to thinking about my
next project. I'm thinking about a Greenleaf cottage next, and
wouldn't wiring prove a problem? If you use the brads (or the
eyelets) - which are 1/8" long, that's the same as the thickness of
the walls. What's to prevent the...

Hiding the junction splice? by
Cathy Weeks
Ok, I had an idea that I'd like to bounce off you more experienced
people...
The cir-kit instruction booklet has people put the junction splice on
the side of the house on the siding, and I find that to be
unattractive. I want to hide the junction splice under the house
instead:
On the ground...

sconces and coach lamps by
Cathy Weeks
Ok... I need to run the wiring tape, and I have no fixtures to test
with. I'll get the fixtures in April.
Now, here are my problems:
1. How do I attach exterior coach lamps?
I know that I'll run the tape around the top of the front door, on the
inside. I also know that I'll have to drill...

Mistakes already! How to fix? by
Cathy Weeks
Sigh... the fact that I've already built on dollhouse doesn't count
for much it seems, especially when I built it 12 years ago because
this very simple RGT Victorian Jr already has mistakes.
I primed the housebody and painted the exterior, but didn't pay enough
attention to the instructions where...
