Question: How to evaluate a pottery studio business by
Joe Friday
Does anybody know how to evaluate a small pottery studio business?
My wife has a studio that we want to sell before we move out of the state.
She is the sole proprietor and I help her do the accounting, handyman tasks,
web pages, clean, and assist in teaching classes. She has been in business

I'm thinking of buying a shimpo RK10 with remote pedal. Can anyone
fill me in with pro's or cons of this machine?
How is it from stationary to very slow speeds?
Does the fact that the pedal is remote, change in any way the
performance?
what is the drive system?
it says in the brochure that...

handles by
Marmaj40
I am having the worst time attaching handles. If they don't crack at the
junction, there is a crack at the bend of the handle. What should I do? I
can't believe that the people who make lots of mugs, etc. have this problem.
Help.

over reduction disaster by
Laura
Hi All,
Can you wise potters out there give me some much needed advise about what to
do with a bunch of pieces that were over reduced?
On the good side, in my last glaze firing, the unglazed portions of
stoneware were all toasty and gorgeous. The bad thing is, areas in my old
updraft kiln that got...

his pottery method. My entire experience prior to that was 25 years ago in
high school -- so I know very little about anything besides Juans method. I
have since read some books...

Ancient Cromartie Test Kiln by
Roz Lacey
(Potter in UK) Someone kindly gave me a small but very old Cromartie test
kiln. They thought I could use it as a test kiln and for enamel and onglaze
work. It looks in good condition and switching it on produces enormous
heat, so I guess the elements are OK. The problem is I can't open it. ...

recently that it was becoming available again, however my local supplier in
Hamilton, New Zealand, is not aware of any news like that. He also said
that he had not had good comments from customers about the use of
substitutes...
