Gold Plating by Jack Schmidling
What determines the depth of a gold plating? I am using my new plating solution with a gold anode and it seems to work. What I don't understand is how long to continue the plating. Does it keep getting thicker forever? If I plate the part the next day, will it be twice as thick? js

Tin - antiquing by Arashikage
I recently got a piece of tin jewlery - a Thor's Hammer to be exact, but = I find the finsih to be a little too shiny. I was wondering if anyone knew a way, chemically or otherwise, to oxidize= or in some other way taint the surface and make the tin-piece appear = "older".

Bleach and Silver by Jack Schmidling
My wife was distressed to find that one of the silver rings I made for her got all grungy from getting bleach on it. I put a piece of silver into a beaker of bleach and within a minute or two, it got real ugly. I suppose everyone else knows this but I sure didn't. Seems to have almost the same...

Can spinel withstand heat? by lemel_man
I've been asked to modify a gold eternity ring that has little (1.6mm) white spinels all round. It has sentimental value as it was the owner's grandmother's. The mod would be no problem had the stones been diamonds, but the prospect of removing and replacing all these little things is not...
