Dan
My wife is taking her 2nd set of classes in pottery & I'd like to find a
used wheel for her to use at home. Can anyone suggest a good source for
such equipment, either via mail order (especially with a web site) or in
the Pacific Northwest (we're in Seattle). Any suggestions as to

Glue for broken mug handle? by
Dan Musicant
The handle broke off my favorite mug which is made from white clay. It's
very hard for me to find a mug I like that's as big as I like, and this
one will do until I find another. Trouble is the handle broke off and I
use this thing for hot coffee (can't hold it without a handle). Can I
use some...

I am new to the group and relativly new to pottery. Could you explain what
is meant by "reduction glazes". Does it have something to do with the
shrinkage?

Crackle glazes? in layers? by
Daniel
Neophyte here!
I want to put a nice crackle glaze on some white earthenware bisque.
The ware is SO white I thought I would simplify matters and just put
in on the ware with no other colors. Checking around though it looks
like most people are doing crackle in layers. Such as a layer of clear
and...

Load Costs by
Darryl Lentz
Good morning all,
We are doing a cost analysis but are stumped regarding the cost
(electricity) of firing a kiln. We use studio kilns so we can't check the
meter or check the bill.
Could someone in Central Ontario (Canada) give us a hint as to the cost of
running a bisque and a glaze load? ...

How can one locate good retail stores for pottery?
Some retailers don't display pot correctly

What can this be? by
[email protected]
I have this piece and do not know what the saying means,
SI DY POMIS S
I also would like to know if anyone else has seen something like this
before and can give me information on it. It is difficult to find a
marking due to the bottom. It appears to have one but I don't want to
clean this too...

Firing Tmes by
David Coggins
Hi Pete,
There are about as many firing cycles as there are glaze recipes. There is
no definitive answer, but have a look at my website
www.users.bigpond.com/dcoggins
for a few pointers.
Bisque temps for pottery are specified by the clay suppliers, usually at
least 1000C but not too high, as the...
