OT of interest to the teachers amongst us by NightMist
(also of interest to anybody who sends their kids to school) I know you have corrected my spelling, punctuation, and grammer. Alas! the red pen doesn't come through on my moniter! Here is a fun spin on a current educational debate: http://www.venganza.org/ NightMist

OT-vacation & pet by Joanne Passmore
Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts and hugs for our saying goodbye to Thor. It has been almost a week and I still cry unexpectedly. The house sure is empty! DH and I are going on a two week vacation (last two weeks of July), travelling completely around Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. Any...

inexpensive scissors by Cynthia Mason
I found the Allray scissors you recommended. I looked at the dollar stores and they had the ones for office work and paper. Hancock's has the dressmaker - cloth cutting ones for $1.00 for 4th of July. Thanks for the good tip. They are just what I wanted.

repost: Red Lake HUG guidelines by DrQuilter
Tina asked about the guidelines, so here they are again. So far I have two blocks, a wonderful 9" apliqued Buffalo on yellow and green background, and A 6" black & print half triangle square. I can post pics if you think that would inspire you. So it is pretty open, design wise, and I'll pretty...

Twisted Sisters by Donna in Idaho
I just returned home from Project Linus conference. One of the classes I took was for Ami Simms' Twisted Sisters quilt. What a neat block! It looks complicated, but it is soooo easy! If you don't know what a Twisted Sisters quilt is - here's the link. I'm sure I'll make more of these! ...

Um...is this blade dull? by dogmom
I feel a little sheepish asking this but heck, that's never stopped me before! If my rotary blade isn't cutting clean--the strips have threads hanging from them after being cut, does that indicate I need a new blade? Or do I just need to buy more cloth?! I suppose it has been, uh, a *while* since...

Question for Quilts and Recipes Person by
Someone on the NG had pictures of her quilts and pictures of her recipes. I opened the picture of her antipasto and it was as gorgeous as her quilts. I would love to have the recipe for this, but don't remember who it was. Please help. I must have it! Barb C. in FL

This could be it - fingers crossed! by AliceW
Well, my daughter is looking at houses again! She was really bummed when she got so close to getting one in February and it didn't work out due to a miserable house inspection report (house should have been sold "as is" since the owners refused to repair anything!). Anyway, she's got the bug...

To our new quilters by Polly Esther
You need to see this. Go to Donna's post today about Twisted Sisters. The site gives you an opportunity to see what is going on at the world's worst quilt competition. The winner the year I began quilt/computering had 5 corners and was bound with duct tape. It's really late here and I didn't go...

OT - Sayin' a prayer and thanking the Angels by Sharon Harper
Saying a prayer today for the 200 or so Symbol Tech workers who were informed at 4.30pm (NY Time Tuesday) that they were no longer needed. Many of them were people my DH has known for upwards of 8-9 years. He was in tears when he called me an hour ago. His department (training) has...
