Ribbit, ribbit by
SlinkyToy
Well, I just yanked the 50-odd rows of my shawl. Finished the last pattern
row I worked missing some 20 stitches. Tinked back 4 rows and was still
short. Pinned the thing out on a dark towel and discovered my missing
stitches -- running merrily for the hills, so to speak.
I did save the bit of...

earworms..... by
Els van Dam
Oh, great, thanks a lot! Now I've got an earworm! (For those who don't
know, an "earworm" is when you have a song that you just can't get out
of your head..........)
Joan (I'll go no more a-roving with you....)
I will not have a problem with this earworm, mine right now is a...

Need necktie pattern, knit or crochet by
Sew-Sew Lady
I am spending this afternoon going through all sorts of Yahooing and
Googling looking for a necktie pattern. If anyone knows of one and can save
me some time, that would be nice. I can knit and crochet, so either style
of pattern would be fine. I thought surely I would have found one by...

Who has tried making socks on circular needles?
The other day, I started some heavy socks DPN that were too short and fat.

About that chocolate cake by
SlinkyToy
Today I made the cake - just the cake part, mind, using cheap chocolate, to
be sure I can do it tomorrow. I sent the naked cake with my boy and my ILs
to late church, where it was apparently quite a hit.
Tomorrow, the good Valrhona 65% chocolate and the rum-flavored chocolate
buttercream...

Help by

Most tomato factories are outdoors-type places, with lots of dirt and a fair

Socks on circular needles? by
Noreen's Knit*che
Aaron,
I know someone is going to ask (in regards to my previous post on this
subject) just HOW to manage knitting in the round on stitch holders.
It can be done. One has to bend and open the closure side just a tad,
and use one DP or single of the same size, knit off the 'opening' end,
then place...

ATTN: Slinky Toy by
Noreen's Knit*che
Well, I've made a decision regarding MY shawl, anyway! I'm going to make
a triangular, but NOT use the lace pattern we discussed. Playing with my
cobweb, I've discovered that using US #2 needles in plain ole' Garter
Stitch will make quite the lacey wrap!
I'll save the lace pattern for a 2 or 3...

my first sweater.....too big???? by
Mary
thanks everyone for your reassurances and suggestions. I think I will
just go ahead and make up the sweater as is, and then learn from it.
if it ends up too big, then some lucky person will get a nice handknit
sweater. maybe my mom!
it's going a bit slower now that I don't have a cross country...

Sold a Cross-stitch by
Mischief
I can't believe it. I have just found out that I sold the Angel
cross-stitch that I have on my site. Now to make another one for me.
A girl at work liked it so much she is buying it to give to a friend
that has been fighting cancer.
The girl at work has also looked at my sight and may be...

THAT yarn and THAT pattern - NOT! by
SlinkyToy
A friend of mine collects snippets of lace, so I'll donate the edging I
saved from my ill-fated Shetland shawl.
I've decided to make a simple stole with an undulating eyelet over 6
stitches. Mindless enough that I won't need a pattern but it should look
fancy enough when I get it finished. And I...

Venting about cables by
Karen
I have been working on this "spare-time" afghan, that is just a mass of
cables -- and it has been going well -- until this morning.
I noticed on one side that about a FOOT down, I missed a cable! I just
forgot to move the three stitches to a cable needle there, and just plowed
right through them....
