Meet up by
Dee in Oz[_3_]
Di (DiMa) and I have know each other via the internet at least since 2004
through our genealogy research. To put it simply I am related to a relation
of hers but we are no relation to each other.
So imagine my suprise when she turned up here as well and probably hers as
well when she saw me...

"Beg" Quilt from Estelle in UK by
Tia Mary
I have finally started work on "jazzing up" the "Beg" quilt I
received from Estelle in the UK. A bit of background, now. It's been
about 1 1/2 years since Estelle posted here about a quilt top she had
finished and she **really** didn't like it and was going to get rid of
it. I posted a nice,...

Basting by
Sally Swindells[_3_]
I've just cut a batting for a lap quilt, and as I always do for this I
used a king-size bed as the cutting surface (no sheet and very taut
mattress cover, and no bits to adhere like the carpet and I can stand-up
afterwards).
It suddenly struck me that this would be an ideal basting table as I...

OT Women's soccer finals by
Ginger in CA
Wow! What an event!
I am disappointed there were so many shots-on-goal by the American
team without success. But everyone played with their hearts. They are
all such fantastic athletes.

Can't be that bad by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I wanted to show you the quilt block I'm using and went over to quilters
cache to see what its name was. There was really no need to be quite so
insulting but the name is Simple Star. Okay. It is about as simple as they
get but something mysterious or historical would have at least sounded...

Question about Stack'n'whack by
Ursula Schrader
Hello all,
most of you probably remember the Singing Quilter:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzoL7ddTEnA&feature=player_embedded
Now, I've grown really fond of the quilt shown at 3:24 and I wonder what
makes the charm of this item. Is it the wonderful contrast between the green
and the nice...

Multiple half-square triangles by
Pat S
I wonder if someone could kindly remind me of the printed paper (I
think?) that enables many two-colour half-square triangles to be made by
simply sewing along the correct lines and then cutting apart?
I expect I could draw my own - if I sat down and concentrated on which
lines to sew and which...

OT Laminate flooring by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
I want black and white (diagonal) checkerboard-pattern flooring in my
kitchen and bathroom in my little cottage. I've never had laminate
flooring and have concerns about whether it will be slippery if used
in the kitchen with the miriad possiblilites of spills and in the
bathroom with water...

Half square triangles by
Sally Swindells[_3_]
I've just started a Christmas wall-hanging which is completely half
square triangles. Its a Christmas Tree so the right side is a mirror
image of the left. All the fabrics are dark - no pales or whites.
My dilemma is which is the best way to press the seams - to one side or
open. The quilting...

Summer Wedding by
Jo Gibson[_3_]
I think it was Polly's sharp eyes which spotted my casual mention of a
wedding. First, we planned to get married in 2009 but a baby came along
faster than we anticipated and I refused to get married looking like a
white satin beach ball. So it was postponed until 2010, which was handy
because...

Quilt Show and Auction by
Alice in PA[_3_]
My DH and I went to the Kutztown (PA) Folk Festival today. I checked out
all the quilts in their "Quilt Barn" and stopped by the auction later on.
They just happened to be auctioning one of the First Place winners. It went
for $11,000!!! Quite a roar and round of applause went up from the...

Wal-Mart by
Alice in PA[_3_]
Our local Wal-Mart is putting a fabric department back in! There really
isn't room for it anymore, so they pushed all the "snack aisles" together,
to squeeze it it! So far, they just have notions and a lot of ribbon, but
the racks are set up for fabric. Should be interesting to see what they...

OT-but you are such a friendly bunch by
Ursula Schrader
Hello all,
I've often seen requests for prayers here, and sent good thoughts out
myself, even though I'm not the strongest quilter on earth. Now I'd like to
ask your good wishes for me, that is, actually my little daughter. She has
to have her adenoids out, her tonsils minimized and her...

OT Prayers Requested, Please by
Bobbie Sews More
DH has had pneumonia for over a week and is having a rough time with it.
Yes, he has gone to the doctor twice now and the second time his medicine
was changed. Prayers or good thoughts for a speedy recovery would certainly
be appreciated! Thank you.

UFOs by
Jo Gibson[_3_]
I'm pretty sure that everyone here (apart from Ragmop) has a couple of
UFOs, probably a few more than they would care to admit or would like
and I once again wonder.... why is it that we have UFOs?
For myself, one quilt is waiting for me to remember how to do a seamless
join on the binding, and...

OT this IS funny by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I was thinking Mr. Esther and I would enjoy some sort of GPS system for our
little trips. So. I Googled: GPS system for seniors.
I got: a system for tracking seniors. Do they put a tracking chip
beneath the skin of the old folks like the vet does for family pets?
I reckon we are...

quilting in Indianapolis ? by
Kay Ahr
I'm moving back to Indianapolis this summer.
I wasn't a quilter the first time I lived there.
Please tell me about quilt shops and quilters in Indianapolis!
Thanks,
