Crossed a new boundary by
teleflora
Well, I think I've passed a milestone and I don't believe it's a good one.
I bought my first BOLT of fabric. True, it WAS at Wal-Mart, but it's a
really nice piece of material, and it's in my very favorite color of soft
yellow. AND it was only $1/yard.
But the point is, there was over 8 yards on...

batik question by
Marijke
Like many quilters, I love batiks. I used to have a large selection but
it's been whittled down.
Now that I'm starting a new project, I decided that I wanted to do it in
blue batiks as my focus colour so I went to an LQS to buy some extra
blues for my stash. The selection is lovely and I bought 6...

Join me in a happy stagger by
Sharon Harper
With a whole lotta help from LeeAnn Rimes, SheDaisy, Debbie Gibson (there's
no accounting for musical taste) and Travis Tritt (just what *was* his momma
thinkin'??), one and a half *large * spools of Gutermann 828, countless
needles and pins, and some Jamaican Gold Dark Chocolate (thanks Sally!)...

Finished a wallhanging by
Lisa Caryl
I finished a wallhanging recently, and I finally got around to taking
pictures of it. It's 3 panels of sunflowers that are embellished with yarn
"lace" centers, thread painting with metalic threads, and lots and lots o'
beads. I can honestly say I was tired of beading when I got finished with
it....

James's quilt is up! by
Kate Dicey
I finally got pix of James's quilt on the web site: look in Teaching
James to Sew in the Learning Zone, and in the quilt Gallery, where there
are also pix of my Cracked Ice quilt completed (at last! - the pix, I
mean, as the quilt has been finished for aaaaages!), and of a couple of
WIP's.

His pictures can be found in his own gallery:

The first quilt pictured is his latest one.
This quilt has a flannel backing & is tied.

CORRECTION: Star quilt math by
Listpig
Do not use that thingy I worked up.
It was predicated, as it turns out, on an inaccurate ruler.

OT humor by
Bonnie Patterson
Let's say a guy named Fred is attracted to a woman named Martha. He
asks her out to a movie; she accepts; they have a pretty good time. A
few nights later he asks her out to dinner, and again they enjoy
themselves. They continue to see each other regularly, and after a
while neither one of them is...

she has broken her back but that the spinal cord has not been severed...
we'll know more after the CAT scan tomorrow morning.

Applique Backgrounds by
Pat in Virginia
Quite a wile ago, someone posted about a favorite fabric for
backgrounds of applique blocks. It was a nice quality fabric,
probably an off white or cream. Does anyone have a suggestion
about this fabric? Thanks bunches.

LQS under new management by
M Rimmer
My LQS is under new management and has been closed during refitting. I
went along today so see how things have changed. There's a lot more
fabric, things have moved around a bit, other than that it seemed mostly
the same, which is good because I liked it before.. The old owner was
very nice, but...

Star quilt math (you may want to keep) by
Listpig
Most of you know I do a lot of Lakota star type quilts (eight pointed), and
I was poking around online tonight trying to find out if anyone had
something on how to tell how large your star was going to end up based on
the dimension of your diamond components (being too lazy to go dig thru...

Anyone ever try this? by
[email protected]
I've had this thought roaming around in my head for a few months now
and am wondering if it's feasible. My mother came to visit in March
and I have a picture of her and my son at the airport. She's holding
him and they both look just thrilled. I was thinking of making the
picture bigger and...

OT deer deterrent by
maryd
I caught a bit on TV today about deterring deer from eating flowers/gardens.
The "expert" was the state horticulturist from Maryland.. I think he said
he beat 4 eggs in 1 gallon of water and sprayed around the plants and found
the deer stayed away. Wish I knew the name of the show. But maybe...

Math help - quilting related by
Roberta
I recently purchased a pattern book to make a quilt for my niece - she
helped me pick it out. I am very excited about the pattern - it is a
stack-n-whack type thing - but instead of all the crazy angles - it
squares off the stack-n-whack part and uses it as the middle of a
sawtooth star. seems...
