Where is the "webmaster" when all of this non-pottery garbage is posted? I see
this has turned into a porno site, and the potters are gone. It makes me sad.

firing agate rocks with pottery by
Marmaj40
Hi--I would like to know if anyone has ever put agate rocks in the bottom of a
bowl and then fired it to---- say ^ 6?
Since they are such beautiful colors, I thought if they would melt, they would
look interesting. They are small--probably no bigger than a quarter.
Thanks in advance for any...

flowing glazes by
Marmaj40
I use commercial glazes for the most part, and it seems that some of the glazes
I buy flow on beautifully, and others seem to "attack" the pot in a thick glob,
and dry so quickly that the brush just seems to attach to the pot, and won't
glide over the piece. With this type of glaze, I get a very...

handles by
Marmaj40
I am having the worst time attaching handles. If they don't crack at the
junction, there is a crack at the bend of the handle. What should I do? I
can't believe that the people who make lots of mugs, etc. have this problem.
Help.

Pottery on Cable show by
Marmaj40
Has anyone seen the pottery show on DIY network? It is neat to see a potter
demonstrate on TV. I think it is on at 3:30 Eastern Daylite time, and on at
12:30 Pacific Daylite. You can go to DIYNetwork.com and it tells you what has
been done and what is coming up. Also will tell us in USA when it...

refiring piece of porcelain slip under glaze. by
Marmaj40
I have a cone 6 piece that when it was leather hard, I covered with porcelain
slip to make the clay lighter in color. I fired it at 06 for bisque, and then
glazed it, and fired to cone 6. It came out very rough, with the porcelain in
little bubbles that looked smooth like it fired to temperature,...

Firing Decals on Store-bought Ceramic Wall Tiles by
Marni
I've been thinking about buying some plain white, glazed ceramic wall tiles
and then applying decals on them, and firing the decals. Has anyone tried
this? I think it would work since decals are only fired to somewhere around
^018 (not sure, have to look it up again).

04 06? by
Martin J. Kenny
This question is probably simple with a simple answer. Perhaps it narrows
down to will it make a difference to the final product if I bisque porcelain
at 06 (usually I do it to 04)?
The reason for the question is that there is a terracotta piece already
fired to 06. It has some glued wood...

Great Lakes is OK! by
Marty Kenny
I have done business with GL for over 5 years. Not only have they never
been dishonest, but have given extra services not included in our formal
agreements. This without even me asking.
How any I could give credence to anyone who claims otherwise, is not even
thinkable. I would hope that the...

Shelves for woodfire by
MARY HANDROW
I have been looking at getting some new shelves for a woodfire kiln going to
cone 10, 11, 12 with reduction. I will be using ITC coatings on the
shelves. I have seen that high alumina shelves are not advised for
woodfire, why? The Advancer shelves are very sensitive to any moisture and
cost is...

Looking for a formula by
[email protected]
At one time our ceramics class had a stain called Georgettes. Someone
in the class broke the jar and threw it away not realizing the formula
was on the jar. Does anyone have this formula? I would like to find it
for our class.
Thank you,
Mary
