On topic: an author who "gets it" by
Susan Hartman[_2_]
I read this paragraph this morning, and immediately smiled and re-read
it, and re-read it again. Perfection!
"It was one of the pinafores Saffy had sewn when Merry first arrived,
made from a lovely piece of Liberty fabric ordered years ago, not
because Saffy had a project in mind, but because...

Happy New Year to all! by
Pat P[_3_]
Hope you all miss the `flu (which wiped me out for Christmas week despite
having had the injection in October!) Hope that 2011 brings everyone all
they hope for and nothing that they don`t want!
I had a lovely parcel today from a friend from RCTN which included a couple

I put a couple of pictures of my furbaby in the Pet's Corner on RCTNP.
We talk so much about them that it's nice to finally put a face to the name.

Maybe a useful tip. by
F.James Cripwell
I have been finishing off other people's UFOs for a few months. I have
got back to my piece; a waterlily, for which I produced the pattern with
Pattern Maker. So the pattern is on 12 sheets of paper. When I stopped,
there was a large chunk of stitching in DMC 712, which went over two
pages. So...

Xstich Patterns - Carousel Hourse & Nene by
R. Higher
Hello All,
I am cleaning out Mom's apt. (due to a terminal illness) and have
come accross a couple of patters and a couple of old mags. I recall
her doing the carousel hourses (spring, summer, fall & winter) and they
came out rather nice. The nene hides in front of a silversword plant
and to some...

OT - Mini-Whine on Jobs by
Ellice K.
So, just thought I'd share a small whine. After waiting 3 weeks for the
"formal offer from HR" - once again - no job. The very nice HR chief sent
me an e-mail - essentially saying that their corporate HQ in Germany has
told them to hold off on new hires until after the 1st quarter. But...

Keepsake Needlearts by
Maureen Grace-Miller
Does anybody know if Keepsake Needlearts in Center Harbor N.H. is still
around? I just uncovered an old catalogue of theirs (2005) and fell in
love with their kits all over again. However, when I'm clicking on their
links on their web page, I keep getting 'bad request'. I hope they're
not...

Plans for a snow NH day by
Cheryl Isaak
Is some serious stitching time. No school today because to the forecast
conditions for later today - ice/sleet. UGH
I do have some house work that needs to be done and some mending and mounds
of laundry. And then STITCHING. And reading (latest Marcia Muller) and some
fantasy gardening - I'm...

report on stitching night - stash enhancement by
Susan Hartman[_2_]
Last night was Stitching Night at the Stiching Post in Catonsville,
MD... a great LNS. Pizza for dinner, plus cookies, cupcakes, chocolate,
and stash enhancement. Mucho fun!
I was pretty pretty restrained in the retail area - bought some needed
threads and treated myself to a couple of pieces...

Forgot to share this by
Cheryl Isaak
Wandered into the local consignment shop on the unending quest for a small
wall hung display cabinet the other day. Struck out on that front but I
spotted some color in the pile of linen to one side on the "small item"
display case. Lovely tea towel with a flower and geometric figuring -...

The Unquiet Bones by Melvin Starr

Really like Hugh - He's gentle and sort of innocent despite being a surgeon
in medieval England....

Really good read by
Cheryl Isaak
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Passion-Play/Beth-Bernobich/e/9780765322173

Ok - it's a small R romance/epic fantasy. Really interesting characters who
grow and change with the story line. Nothing happens that doesn't advance
the story line. And while it is a love story,...

Going on my first cruise - knitting question from an old-time poster by
Blossom
Does anyone out there know about knitting needles on cruises?
We're driving to the port - so no problem with the TSA.
I've heard that I can take circulars in my carry-on, then I've heard
that I can't (knitting needles have to go into my checked bags).
Ditto for crochet hooks.
If all else fails, I...

Cleaning Petit Point by
Maureen Grace-Miller
I'm working on a partially finished petit point piece that's travelled
with me through a couple of moves and 20 years of being pulled out and
put away again. It's DMC thread on 32 ct. silk mesh and in desperate
need of a cleaning. Does anybody know how to clean this? Does it have
to be...

Yarn/Wool question - not entirely on topic by
Cheryl Isaak
My mother recently gave me the stockings she knitted for my sister and I
about 50 years ago, but they are badly discolored. The white and light
colored areas are yellowed and they generally look grungy. I think they are
wool or a mostly wool blend. I really want to see if they can be cleaned up
but...
