glass taurus opinion search by marc
Hi all, I am in the process of buying a glass saw, and I would like to have your opinion on the 2 or 3 major models, which are Taurus 3, Inland and Gryphon. I would use it only to cut difficult inside curve, or sharp angle. I do not mind paying a higher price, and get a good quality saw. As...

Glass grinding bit in drill press by MPost
Instead of purchasing a dedicated glass grinding machine, is it possible to chuck a glass grinding bit into a drill press and use it to grind glass edges for stained glass work? I can get my drill press down to 570 RPM and am sure I could rig up something for water cooling and flushing. Also, how...

Stained Glass Transom - Advice? by Scribble
Greetings, All - I've just taken a commission on a stained glass transom, about 12' by 2', and I'm wondering if any of you have any thoughts on its "installability" if I build it all in one piece. Transportation is no big deal - I can build a custom "carrier" for the glass rack on my truck. The...

Kiln question by jk
A friend of mine bought an old used kiln, and it had a valve controlled fitting to attach to what looked like an airhose. What's it for? -- JK Sinrod Sinrod Stained Glass Studios www.sinrodstudios.com Coney Island Memories www.sinrodstudios.com/coneymemories

Glass in grout? by mark
Thanks for the replies. Let me try to better explain what I am interested in. This was glass in a frame with a grout filler. You could still see thru the glass. Does anyone know where I can learn more about how to do this?

Thank You by NormaSG
Thank you to the person who mentioned Works of Heart in New Hampshire. I had no idea there was a glass shop so close. Went there today and bought some lovely glass. I'm just a hobbyist and it was a real treat to pick and choose from real samples. :) Norma.

FS: 3d Facial Capture Camera (digitizer) for 3d laser etching of glass by Dan Serra
3d facial capture with high fidelity and color maps with the 3d Metrics Venus camera. This robust and easy to use camera works by the principle of analyzing interference patterns that are projected on the face and captured by the camera. Since it is natural light and not a laser emission the eyes...

"E" marks on (safety?) glass by Abdullah Eyles
I have been trying to find information about the (presumably European) "E" marks which are found on safety (laminated?, tempered?) glass used in vehicles. Some have E17, some E5 etc. I haven't been able to find a table explaining the differences, anyone know? (I hope that I haven't deviated...

Recycling... by Kringle
Heyas all. This is probably the most foolish question ever...but is there quite a bit of recycling going on in the glass-related crafts? I'm a budding recycler, and know of an old junk pile that has some old, colored glass fragments. I know there were some blues, and shards from old china, etc....

Glass is obsolete today . . . . . . . . by Karl-Hugo Weesberg
We have plastics, they don't break so easily and are much harder and better than glass. Glass is oldfashioned and nobody needs it anymore!
