Crochet stitch suggestions by Sarah Carter
I've got a craft stall booked for November and I'm hoping to use up all my stash of acrylics and thin guage crochet cottons. I've made quite a few hats and bags already but there are a few yarns that just don't see to fit right with the crochets stithes that I have been using so thought I'd ask...

Knitting speed ?? by
Had a speed trial this morning. With circular needles, I knit ~ 100 stitches per minute. With DPN and sheath, I knit ~ 160 stitches per minute. I'm sure some of you can do better than that with circulars, but it is better than the 20 spm that I was doing 4 years ago when I asked the group for...

White wool or white cotton? by BB
I plan on making a baby blanket that I want to last for many years. I'd like to have white be the main color, but I wonder if it would yellow. Would wool or cotton be better for this? Or should I consider a different color? BB

Padding Cord for Irish Crochet? by kmd
Anyone know if/where I can buy this? I know that some experienced folks just use 3-4 strands of thread held together, but I'm hoping that an actual cord exists somewhere that I can buy while I'm learning. I figure that would be a whole lot easier to ease into, then work my way up to home-grown...

Who let the dogs out? Sunday AM ramblings of a sleep-deprived woman by Wooly
Has anyone knitted the Malin sweater from Herself's _In the Hebrides_? Gauge is given in non-stockinette, instead over something called "sand stitch" which on the other side is merely (knit 1, seed stitch 1) ribbing. I'm knitting a little more tightly than gauge so I'm making the size up from the...

Real, Wooly, Yarn by
I just got a shipment of gansey yarns from Iriss of Penzance. These authentic British breed gansey yarns are as different from any wool yarn that I have ever knit; as silk is different from wool. First, they are stretchy beyond belief, which makes them a delight to knit fast and tight. Second,...
