Carol Doak tonight by
Denise in NH
My guild is hosting Carol Doak tonight, it should be a fun meeting. I
have a couple of her books and I really enjoy paper piecing.
I'm due for a little fun, it's been a long fall and winter. I was on a
heart monitor for a month, then I had to put down both my cat, Steve,
and my dog, Kaz. A...

So Lucky by
Alice
I've been working on a large floral quilt for my son to donate to an auction
in April. His MBA class at Penn State holds the auction each year as part
of "THON" which benefits children with cancer. Today I was all ready to
make the binding and sew it on. Wouldn't you know it? I didn't...

OT getting designs made into fabrics by
D Curtis
One of the fine people I have met on Etsy is a gal whose graphic designs
would translate well into fabric. She hasnt a clue how to even start
making this happen. What is the first step? Who can she contact and talk
to about getting her designs into the right hands? Does anyone here know??
If you...

More mindless sewing by

This is a kit I bought at my LQS a couple weeks ago. I cut it out last
night and finished piecing it today. I thought the fabrics were cute! The
pattern is a simple stack, slash and shuffle the pieces. Similar to a

Baby Quilt Questions by
MaleQuilter
I'm working on a 39x63 baby quilt with six inch flannel blocks and a
three inch satin binding. A few of the blocks are four patch and the
other blocks are solid panels.
What type of quilting is best for a baby quilt?
I intend to have the binding filled with all three layers of the quilt
sandwich....

Someone posted a link to a quilt with applique heart blocks, and all
the blocks were made a little wonky. Anyone have a link to that

Binding Video by
hmharris
If you go to http://www.greatcanadianshophop.com/ the first video has a
binding lesson that is quite good. It's about midway through the video.
Also if you scroll down past the first three videos you can download any of
the three to your hard drive so you can review it later. Really nice. If...

Yes, No and Maybe by
polly esther
I got to see Dr. Susan Mech on SQ this morning and thought she was
wonderful. She had some fine ideas on how to be a quilter without doing
yourself bodily harm. Some of her suggestions were probably out of the
question such as the height she recommends for the bed of the SM is mighty
low. Mine...

I didn't answer your question about rolled hem when I answered your private
email. I don't think a rolled hem would work at all on polar fleece. You
would have way too much thickness.

Karen, Queen of Squishies
We are getting iced out here in my area. Icy trees, and high winds, and
more snow coming. I'm shutting down, and will check in during spring thaw.

Snowed in!! by
Marilyn
Here in central Maine, it has been snowing for about 4 hours. 1.5" of
it on the ground. Bring it on as we too are set with food, water,
generator, etc.
All the surrounding schools were closed today with the exception of
ours. 30 minutes after I sent my kid to school on the bus, we
received a...

I'd try machine basting the edge to hold it from stretching, and then
apply a regular cotton binding to the ege with a walking foot.

Question for the group by
Terri
Question one:
Without googling, if you've never seen Soamoan quilts,
what do you envision in the way of patterns, colors
and motiffs for baby quilts?
Second question:
If you are familiar with Soamoan quilts, what are
some of your favorite links?

Snowed in!! by
Julia in MN
Here in southern MN, we've had a fair amount of snow. We actually have
more snow here than in northern MN. They cancelled the John Beargrease
sled dog marathon in the Duluth area because of lack of snow. More about
the John Beargrease at http://www.beargrease.com/.
