Crafts from recycled glass by
Belinda Alene
I have experience in a number of different handcrafts. Glass work is my
weakest. I live in an area with no glass recycling and would rather learn how
to use this glass than carting to the land fill.
I have a hand held propane torch, various files and other standard household
tools, plus jewelry...

articulated arms for beading lamps by
BentPedals
Looking for design ideas for an articulated arm to support lamps
while beading. The cardboard box and newspaper trick has work well
for years with panel lamps, but I'd like to step it up a bit with the
18" Worden dragonfly I'm doing.
Currently considering using copper pipe, or 2" sq. oak...

making laminated glass tubes by
Bernhard Kuemel
Hi!
I have glass tubes filled with liquid CO2 at high pressure and need to
make it safe in case the tube explodes. Currently I put it in a
protective polycarbonate tube, but I'm worried the PC might not last
long enough. Some of the tubes might be in use for 100+ years. They are
meant to be viewed...

Source for glass cylinder? by
Bert
Can anyone suggest a source for a glass cylinder in the neighborhood
of 8" diameter by 12-18" long, with fairly heavy walls (~1/4" or
more), either quartz or soda glass? I could tolerate minor defects in
case you know of a good source for surplus, rejects, or leftovers.
(The latter are called...

Fiberfrax and soft firebrick supplier (ABQ or internet)? by
Bert
I'm looking for Fiberfrax (or similar) boards and insulating
firebricks (the soft, lightweight kind) for building a temporary,
reconfigurable forge. I've tried a couple of local brick suppliers and
have been going through some Google hits with no luck so far. Does
anyone know of a supplier for...

Champagne: glass or crystal? by
Bertje
why is it that wine-'experts' rather drink champagne from a crystal than
from a plain glass (with the same shape)?
Is it because
- crystal shows the colour of the champagne better
- crystal gives more bubbles
- crystal gives a better 'ring' whit the toast
Maybe more than one of these criteria is...

frosted glass table top looks bluish green-why? by
Betsy
I hope someone in this newsgroup is able to answer my question. I
had a glass company cut glass to make a table top for my kidney shaped
vanity. When I first looked at the finished product, it was clear,
altho I had ordered a frosted glass. They then sandblasted it to make
it frosted. When I...

Shipping from SE USA to Canada by
BevCarter
I've been fairly successful, so far, in shipping projects all over the
continental US. A friend in Canada wants to order from me, but is
concerned about the glass getting through Customs without being
destroyed.
Does anybody have any horror or success stories to share?
TIA

Tinned side of float glass - UV lamps by
Beverley Robinson
Hello,
Does anyone know what type of UV lamp is required to detect the tin side of
float glass, please? I've come across terms such as short, medium and
longwave, nms, filtered and unfiltered - but what are the required criteria?
I've seen UV lamps that detect the uranium in glass and wonder if...

Hello,

of firing etc.
My simplest ventilation option for withdrawing...

Hi to all,
I would like to share my joy of making lentils beads. I just love making
that shape of beads, it's very cool to be able to put more details on a bead
because of the large space available on the flat surface of the bead.
