blocking how-to sought by wolverine
hi! I have a question about blocking. What is it? Why do it? I just completed a baby blanket for grandchild number 2, and the directions say to block it. Apparently, this is such a common direction that nowhere in the magazine i obtained the pattern from are directions given for this procedure....

Can someone help me find the right yarn? by Melinda Meahan - take out TRASH to reply
My 15YO son wants a new helmet liner-type hat to wear under his bicycle helmet to give him some padding and absorb sweat. He wants blue -- not baby blue, but a medium-darkish blue. I am trying to avoid getting something expensive but can't find anything at the local big-box stores (n.b. I...

Knitting Videos for Mittens by Maureen In Vancouver, B.C.
Hello everyone, I'm a long time lurker here who's learned to knit socks from on-line videos. I knit left handed, but that only means I turn the directions around to favour the left side. However, I now want to learn to knit mittens (for Christmas gifts) and desperately want to find on-line...

Hello everyone, I just found myself a new little hobby. It's not new to others I know but to me, it was. It's called Kumihimo braiding. I really enjoy doing it. Yes, I know... I don't need yet another hobby but I swear fiber hobbies are all so addicting. I just love it. Do any of you do...

Anyone Familiar with Antuco? by joan8904
It's a cotton yarn from EA. I'm making a baby Einstein jacket and using a lot more yardage than expected IF the yardage on the yarn wrapper is true. This project is getting more expensive by the day! Has anyone else used this yarn and had a problem with yardage? joan

HI, Everyone, I have a vintage knitting book with a pretty baby blanket that I'd like to make. I'm guessing that the yarn they suggest might be renamed by now. Can anyone help me to figure out what yarns might work...The book is called Lovable Hand Knits for Infants to 4 years. They use Bucilla,...

The Hat picture by Mary Fisher
I call it the Aberdeen Hat because the grey reminds me of granite (Aberdeen is the Granite City), the gold is the beautiful beach and the blue/green is the lovely colour of the sea there. Aberdeen is also in Scotland - quite a long way north - and although this hat is triangular it's not unlike...

My friend & I will be attending the 4th annual Knit Out of our group on Sunday at a local historic site called The Forks. It goes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine. Unfortunately, depending on which weather forecast you read, we have a 60 to 90% chance of showers. Oh well, I'm taking a clip...

I suppose t here are more distractions during summer with vacations etc. but I find that I have a bit more time to knit than some...
