Minot floods by Gen
I called the Minot Red Cross. The have met the quota for pillowcases, but will not turn down any that are sent. They would LOVE quilts. The quilts don't have to be fancy - just functional. Getting them there ASAP would be good. Red Cross PO box 456, Minot, ND 58701 Thanks Gen

OT update by Karen Tucker
Some have asked, others are wondering. DH's health is so-so. He is tired all the time, fighting a virus in his heart. Don't know where that's gonna lead but hoping his Dr.'s can help him overcome it. We are starting to feel like he has his own medical staff, he has so many specialists for...

OT Mischief in MO! by Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
I've been pretty quiet lately. There's a reason I've been so busy..... :-) About a month ago I was bored so was cruising about online and decided to check out the real estate listings. I found the most *adorable* 1928 Victorian cottage. It was a foreclosure and selling for a ridiculously low...

How's about we... by Sartorresartus
have a challenge? I don't think we've done one for ages. Nothing too onerous, because we all have busy lives, but something we could chat about to take us out of ourselves. I could sure do with some of that! I like the idea of a new technique, or using a new tool (I would like THAT one,...

a first! by Karen Tucker
I finished my first miniature! This is from Carol Doak's Easy Paper Pieced Miniatures. It measures 12" x 12". It was the first time I have ever tried to pay attention to warm and cool colors, that was fun to learn. I enjoyed this so much, I'm cutting another one from the same book this...

UK Quilters: fabric up for grabs by Hanne[_2_]
Dear All, Through a friend I have been offered some fabric. It consists of one sack (trash bag) of mostly tweed and velvet and one of mostly cotton. The fabric is currently in Glasgow. It has sat around for about 20 years. I haven't seen it, so take no responsibility for state or fabric...

a small vent by Roberta[_3_]
Mostly I'm annoyed for getting myself into this situation and for making too many assumptions. I offered to machine quilt a top for a friend, who plans to give it to her niece. She has a lot of experience in patchwork and some in machine quilting, but her health prevents her from quilting...

OT Simple Request by Ginger in CA
Last night my father was taken to the hospital by my one older sister who lives near him. After many emails from her as she kept everyone posted with news, the diagnosis at this time is cellulitis in his left leg and heart failure. He is admitted into the place now, for a few days minimum. Heck of...

Free to a good home by AuntK
I'm cleaning up my sewing room as I just can't move in there any longer. In the process I have found (again) 2 (identical) instruction books for a Singer Fashion Machine 1036. Says 'Creative Touch Fashion Machine 1036 - Delux Free-Arm, stretch stitch sewing machine'. I also have a greyish-tan...

Table Runner Block Size? by Mary in Rock Island IL
I am making some table runners for a benefit. My general plan is to have five blocks, on point with some side triangles. I recently made a runner with 7 inch blocks, it seemed thin (or maybe narrow is a better term) to me. What is a good size for those blocks? Mary

G'day! by Trish Brown
Hello everyone! I posted here a few times about five years ago, just as I was beginning my first quilt. I was slow to get started, I think because I was scared to cut into expensive fabric without really knowing what I was doing. I'm sure you remember how it is? ;-D Anyway, long story short,...

Signature square question by Nann
The long-time co-moderator of PubLib, the public library listserv, is stepping down from that position. I'd like to honor her years of service by making her a quilt. What I have in mind is a bookshelf quilt -- with signatures from PubLib participants. There are over 10,000 people on the list. ...

For those who don't know Desert Island Discs, it is a program on the radio in the UK where a guest is invited on, and asked which 8 pieces of music, one book and one luxury item they would take, if stranded on a desert island. This program has been broadcast since 1942. More information...
