Taking the Wild Ginger plunge by
duh who
I don't remember who recommended this software, but I"m going to give it a
try, even though I can't really afford it right now. I'm just so frustrated
trying to find some interesting patterns for men's clothes.
I'm going to start out with a mandarin style jacket, thin-ribbed black
corduroy, with...

Can anyone help?

SEWING MACHINE FAIRY STRUCK! by
Melinda Meahan - take out TRASH to reply
I was cleaning out my closet, and you'll never guess what I found -- a
lovely tan-and-white Singer 401A in perfect condition. It only has the
teeniest of scratches on the bed and absolutely no rust or anything.
The bobbin winder looks like it was never used -- still has the little
molding joint on...

? about pattern drafting/design by
Allison
Hi there, I hope someone can help us. My daughter would like to try
making a dress of her own design. But we aren't too certain how to go
about it. When I was googling for pattern drafting sites the sort of
thing that came up was pretty basic. Does anyone know how to go about
doing something...

Elastic insert on jeans by
SML
Has anyone slit down a jean's waistband and inserted an elastic panel to
enlarge the waist? It ends up as a v-shaped insert and makes the waist more
comfortable. I've seen the finished product but don't know how to make it
look good.

Help finding costuming book please by
Diana Curtis
There was a book I used to love to check out from the library, a big, thick
book with gold color cover, and tons of black and white drawings of garments
throughout history. It seemed to be a fairly new book in the early 70s.
Does this ring any bells with anyone? I can not remember the name or...

making teddy bear ears round by
Irrational Number
I have a very simple teddy bear pattern,
but the ears keep coming out rectangular.
How do I sew it so that the ears turn
around round?
Hmm.. I hope that made sense. The bear
is about 10 inches tall, so the ears
are pretty small. There's no fur or
anything, just cotton fabric. I'm hand-
sewing...

Starting a Discount Fabric Store by
Pat
Hi all,
I'm thinking about starting a fabric discount store in a well
populated area of the East Coast. There is really only one other store
that caters to discounted fabrics and that accounts for only 25% of
the store's revenue.
The closest discount fabric store is about 1.5 hours away and I...

Fitting nightmare by
BEI Design
I am currently fitting a gal whose high bust measurement is 40.5",
bust 48.5", waist 40", and hip 43", back to waist 17.75". That's not
a mistake, her hips are only _three_ inches larger than her waist. No
fanny, at all! She was _very_ surprised to learn that her right arm,
shoulder to wrist is...

Laundering fabric by

How many of you launder their washable fabrics before cutting out their
projects?
I am curious because many years ago I had a class in sewing and it was
recommended to wash all material before starting your projects. We were
told this would show the nature of the fabric, ie bleeding,...
