Long , grandchildren, quilts, software by
Vikki In WA State
This last week has been so crazy, first were the thefts. Then not being
able to find the camera after I spent a week looking for the cord.
Babysitting and children in general. Then actually getting to quilt a
little.
My DGD and I made our first quilt together. It is small, made for her
babies. ...

Okay, so it's not a huge number or anything, but I did want to announce that
every one I've sewn is up on Webshots now. I still don't have the photo of
Mom's completed Tulip Quilt from Hell yet (although it's coming!), but you
can see unfinished pics of it on the site.
Here ya...

Hi, just put a couple new pics on my spot at flickr.com and I'm just
vain enough to want to show them to you guys. They were done quickly.
These are the blocks and quilt for my friend who is in hospice. I'm
binding the quilt now (added a couple borders) and I hope to quilt it

OT - Don't feed the gators in Florida! by
AliceW
Polly, just be warned in case this spreads to your neck of the woods! They
arrested a guy for throwing a gator a fish! Don't want to be around if they
catch you feedin' the gators with, well, other than fish!

HUG PICS by

We'll I never got any communication from Dreamweaver that she was okay
and able to take packages, so I just took a chance and mailed her the
hug I had assembled to the address in the directory. I insured it and
signature confirmed it...so let's cross our fingers! Some of the

Quilter's Cache: did site move? by
Pat in Virginia
Marcia Hohn's site, Quilter's Cache, is
one of the finest resources for
quilters. I have tried several time this
morning to go there, and 'it cannot be
found.' I can't reach it with my book
mark, nor with several variations of
search. What's up? Thanks.

OT Nuts by
NightMist
We have mostly ignored the big old butternut tree at the corner of our
kitchen for years. Just snarled at it for drawing squirrels to us.
DH has decided that this year we should make a serious go at getting
some nuts from it.
Now that is definitely a fine notion, butternuts are a good rich...

OT Any heirloom dress stitchers here? by
Polly Esther
I am wading into a new territory using fine gauge English netting with
entredeux, beading, silk ribbon and laces. I don't want to bore the rest
of the group here to pieces. Are there any of you here that do heirloom
sewing? (I realize that some heirloom stitching is never going to rise to...

Notes to self... by
Shelly
1.Don't have people over.
2.Just smile and say Thank you as they admire the quilt on the wall.
3.Don't say " It looks complicated,but isn't".
4. Don't say "She's got other patterns in that style"
5.Certainly don't start up the computer and bring up the website of said
designer.
6.Don't...

Tea-dyeing, maybe not by
Polly Esther
I've just read that tea-dye contains tannic acid (tannin) and will destroy
fabric in 30 to 40 years. I had always *assumed* that tea-dye was harmless
and had never thought it could be hurtful, especially since it's so quickly
recommended by so many.
Many times, I've tea-dyed lace for trim on...
