story for today by
CNYstitcher
A while ago, I bought a book titled, What I Learned From God While
Quilting, by Ruth McHaney Danner and Cristine Bolley. Very
interesting...there are short stories, follwed by some scrpture and
quilting tips/hints.
Here is what I thought I would share for today:

OT - Sad News by
Sharon Harper
It is with streaming eyes (and nose!) and very blotchy face that I have to
let you know my nanna passed away at 9am this morning. Mum called me this
arvo at about 4 and it has been a frantic dash to get plane flights and
babysitters organised. The girls will be home with family (DSIL) and I...

first crazy quilt by
julia sidebottom
Just looking at a post a moment ago reminded me that I just recently
made my first successful crazy quilt top.
For whatever the reason I have always been afraid to make one. I did
attempt one a hundred or so years ago before I learned the joy of
patchwork and that was such a disaster I was...

To Michelle, Flossy, Modest and others by
Polly Esther
Between unpacking, laundry, and other fun stuff, I slip over here for quick
breaks and see what you all have been up to. Just now, I see some thoughts
on our desert quilter's question about stippling. I didn't find that anyone
mentioned which foot to use. Attempting to stipple without a foot...

Need help/tips learning Free-Motion Quilting by
Pat S
I am an experienced sewer for 30+ years. I've been quilting for over 20,
machine piecing and usually hand-quilting. Any machine quilting I've done
is fairly straight sewing with a walking/even-feed foot. I turn envy-green
at the free-motion work, the skill it takes.
I have an almost new Brother...

OT Introducing Misty kitten by

Kathyl said it would be OK to post sleeping pictures, as this little one
is too fond of dashing about. and no modelling sense at all g
So, I've managed to get a few onto my Flickr site. There are 6
altogether. I'm hoping the url below gives you the first one. You
should then be able to...

OT Survey- sharing a computer? by
Leslie in MO
Just curious.... I'd like to ask the adults with partners (married or
whatever) whether they share a computer or find each having their own works
better for them. We have 2 puters and a laptop but always seem to share my
basic/cheap little set-up. The "big fancy" computer with all the bells...

Ever participated in a Row or Round Robin? by
Lady Aurora Selene
Hello everyone!
I used to read this group religiously, until my server decided to stop
updating my newgroups. :( I've been gone about 2 years, I think, but I hope
to be back for good! I'll just have to wait patiently until the next
directory update, and I'm darn sorry I missed out on this...

Do SOMETHING new by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I guess I'm getting too many peculiar offers in the spam trash I'm letting
through and not suggesting that you get a university degree by mail or send
the balance in your savings account to some prince in Ballawongabanga. What
I'm wanting you to do in our Happy New Year is DO something you've...

Beg - send an ugly, please by
polly esther
Our hero and roll model, Pami, mentioned to me that she would like to make
an Ugly quilt. It does warm our hearts to see that Pami's sense of humor is
making a great recovery too. When she said ugly, I immediately thought of
the muddy grim purple piece that will never see a quilt in this...

OT Update on Tuppence by
Sandy Foster
It's been a rough week, but it just got rougher. The ultrasound results
came back, and Tuppence has liver failure -- no chance of regeneration.
I'm bringing her home from the vet's tomorrow and will try to keep her
comfortable over the weekend. I think the vet will come early in the
week to help us...

Prayers needed by
Sandy Foster
Some of you may remember that I've mentioned once or twice that my DT
(that's my twin sister) is temporarily living in China. This week is a
holiday week there, and she and DBIL booked a trip to Bali, arriving
yesterday. If you've read the news today, you know that there were some
suicide bombers...

metric? by
Morag in Oxford
Hi all,
I get really confused when I look at a lot of US based quilting sites as
everything is measured in feet and inches.
At school we were taught in metric only - although here in the Uk we still
talk of distances in miles and weight in pounds. All shops sell by the
metre (not the yard) and...

Machines and thread question by
muse9
Do some machines simply not like certain thread brands? I have a 3 year old
Kenmore machine and until now I have only used Kenmore needles and Coats and
Clark thread. The more I learn about quilting the more I realize that I
should be using a better thread and maybe better needles as well. ...

Hot Flushes OT by

Sometime ago I remember a thread where there was some miracle cure for hot
flushes. My mother has recently stopped taking her HRT following scares about
associated cancer risks. She is suffering with hot flushes so badly that she is
considering going back on the HRT. Please can anyone tell me what...
