cementing PVC fabric by
ccc31807
What is the best product to use to join two pieces of PVC fabric?
This needs to be absolutely water tight, so I can't sew it. It also
needs to be able to take a fair amount of stress, so I can't just tape
it.
Thanks, CC.

sun hat pattern by
G
Hi all,
I just came back from vacation w/ a nasty sunburn and I've been
thinking about sewing my own sun hat, since hats at the stores are
always too small for my evidently enormous head. Does anyone have
some tips on how to construct one? I've seen a couple of patterns,
but again the standard...

Flannel by
Angela Moak
Okay, I went a little nuts after Thanksgiving at JoAnns and bought about
40 yards of flannel. My question is this, it is labeled "not intended
for children's sleepwear" does this include things like receiving
blankets? I want to make some light receiving blankets for two of my
employees, but I...

hypotheses regarding human headshape and hat shapes by
Neil Fernandez
Hypotheses:
- human head shape, in a horizontal plane just above the ears, is
approximately the shape made by joining a semicircle with a
semi-ellipse, where the ellipse has eccentricity 1/sqrt(2)
- hat ovals are ellipses with eccentricity 0.5
I'd be grateful for any help with this.

Help please.... My Singer 27K (old) has indigestion by
canna
I have a copy of the old Singer 27k manual, but even so cannot improve
the mess I'm in. The machine sews with a long line of thread on the
top surface of the material, with intermittant loops over the thread.
The fun starts underneath the material, where there is a tangled
forest of sewing...

Determining Your Size on Patterns?? by
dogmom
According to the measurements on patterns I am a size 12, give or take. But
when I buy ready-made clothes I'm size 6 or 8. I don't think it's just
flattering marketing, either--I was told 20 years ago by a saleslady that I
was a 6 when I told her I was a 12, because I'd always sewn my own...

Need advice on purchase of new machine by
Myrna
HI, All,
I just tried to wind a bobbin on my 30-year-old Sears sewing machine
and the winder will not turn. I took the thing apart and can't see what
might be wrong. The local repair place says it will probably cast
$60-$70 to fix. I'm wondering if I should just go buy a new machine. So
here's my...

How much to charge? by
Lori Reynolds
Hi there -- I've been asked by our local ballet (at which my 10 year old
daughter is a student) to make some costumes. I've had lots of experience
making things for my own family's use, but have never charged anyone a fee,
so I don't know what I'm worth, so to speak.
I'd love to have some input...
