Back from camp :) (long) by
Sandy Foster
yawn I'm pooped! But camp was, as usual, lots of fun! :) In fact, it's
still going on, but I always figure on coming home early, since by
Thursday I'm on overload from all of the information. Not to mention
being exhausted from late sewing nights, strange bed and intense
concentration during...

Tips for matching seams? by
Adella
I'm interested in any tips for matching seams that have been pressed
open. I recently posted a plea for help in pressing Broken Dishes HST's
and the advice from Marcella was very helpful. She suggested pressing
the seams OPEN and that worked beautifully.
However, I have had occasional problems...

Happy Dancing .... on the horizon by
Kate G.[_2_]
for my Kimonos & Kanji quilt. I just got it back from my long arm quilter
(she is still in Minnesota -- I'm in Michigan). I will continue to send
quilts to her because her work is so extra-ordinary! I'm sure you'll agree.
(you'll see it in my webshots folders -- right at the top!)
While the...

Washing fabric by
joysjane
Okay, so one more time - the general consensus is that it is best to prewash
all fabric?? I read most of the posts and it seems that it was what most of
you do. I did a LARGE load of all my greens and then spent a LONG time
ironing (hence my earlier thread on irons). Anyway, before I put...

advice on new machine sought by
Lorrie
I am in the market for a new machine and looked at several yesterday.
I'm deciding between a Janome 6025QC ($600) and a Bernina 135PE
($750). The features are very similar. The Bernina has a stippling
stich and the ability to add a knee lift for $75. I had my heart set
on the Janome, but I want...

Pot Holders & Hot Pads by
Glenn/Patty
I've never tried it with hot pads or pot holders but when I make rice bags I
put cinnamon, nutmeg, and some cloves in with the rice. When you heat it up
it kinda smells like an apple pie. : )

I forgot the good stuff. by
Susanne
I forgot to tell you all the good stuff! My DH messed up my computer while I
was gone so I got a brand spanking new computer. I am in love with it! Now
if only I could fiqure out how to get rid of all those annoying pop-up
messages.
Also, I had planned on visiting every quilting store in sight...

Just Pick a Punkin! by
AliceW
No, for once, this isn't an email about the Directory! As I may have
mentioned, I have suffered through a horrible change of season cold. But I
have also had a very difficult two weeks at work dealing with domestic and
international auditors - long days, fast food, little sleep and no...

are you an artist - are your quilts art? by
Musicmaker
Sleet and freezing rain have closed the local schools - yeah! that
means that I have no piano lessons to teach and have ALL DAY to
quilt. Have been devouring a book I bought used that's called
"Journey of an Art Quilter" by Barbara Olson and it's awesome. Has
instructions for defining your own...

Thoughts on: washing quilts by
Kellie J Berger
What are your practices and findings? fancy quilt store soaps? soak?
don't wash, just lay it out in the sun to "air out" ?
What about quilts with photo transfers? signatures? embroidery? rust
stains? yellow marks? (Nightmist, let us know what you find out about that
plant!) musty smells? ...

Update and freebies* by
Listpig
OK, I haven't been around; life has gotten interesting, in the Chinese curse
sense (i.e., "may you live in interesting times". I'll try to be better
about that, but no promises.
Myriad pieces involved in that, some of which I won't go into here but will
in email if anyone really cares. Part of...

anybody on a fabric hunt? by
off kilter [email protected]
As I am going through and trying to clear out the stash that has not
been used and I can't remember what I bought it for, I figured I'd ask.
Okay, that wasn't such a great sentence, but what are you looking for
fabric-wise?? I am sorting everything out and will probably post
pictures in a yahoo...

Jalynne
How are we doing? I've nearly got the main part of my double nine patch (hand
pieced, remember?) top assembled...need to cut and attach borders next. I'm thinking
the end of June and it'll be ready for quilting. I planned on it being that far by
now, but things have gotten in the way...I'm busy...

Another one done! :) by
Sandy
Last night I finished #2 of the three Jennie Rayment projects I started
at camp. :) This one is called Tucked-Up Circles, and it may well be my
favorite of the three. It's at
http://www.sandymike.net/fabmanip.html#Tucked-Up_Circles; I've also
added a detail photo of Twitch, Twiddle & Tweak,...

New Pictures up by
KJ
Hi all. I've posted some new pictures on my Webshots page.
I'll give you a little background about them. My daughter is a percussion
major at the University of Iowa. Her professor knew I am a quilter and
approached me a over a year ago with a proposition....no, not that one! He
wanted to know...
